I must watch Countryfile tonight at 6:40. There will be a feature on the great storm of 1703, which hit our area very badly and is the one that the gale of '87 is often referenced as being the worst since, in our part of the World.

Windstorms probably 'float my boat' more than major snowfall events, even if I do like big snowfalls a lot too.biggrin.png

Beautiful morning has now turned into a very wet afternoon here...feel so sad for the people affected by the flooding; I love extreme weather, however, not the devastation it brings to some.

It woke me up on and off throughout the night. I think it peaked at around 3am. I believe the roof tiles were jiggling a fair bit and the house was shaking.

Only 15mm of rain overnight though, I was expecting much more.

Looking east out of office window towards central London, the northern sky is blue with broken cloud still, but the southern sky is looking increasing darker shades of grey and as the radar suggests, there's showers to the south.

Susan Powell just mentioned the 'S' word for Thursday and Fridsy on News24 forecast just now.... :-)

I wouldgo as far as to say Wednesday for some too. smiliz39.gif

Anyway, my feet remain firmly on the soggy ground at the moment but confidence is most certainly increasing. I'm watching the GFS 12z develop as I type.
