Already showing the pivot and slide SE between the 42 and 48 hour charts.

We may end up with not very heavy but continuous snow for a long time out if this.

24hrs of light snow but consistant is very possible and much better than a large hour snowfall event.

I like this thread, alot more relaxed than most forums or in MO threads. It gives a change for everyone to enjoy and discuss.

Touch more East on the next one and that'll be perfect

Worry not. The heavier stuff is due after lunchtime.

It is swinging E perhaps a tad ENE.

If anything if you compare the 6z NAE @ T+48 (Fri 6am) to the 12z NAE @ T+42 (Fri 6am) there has been quite a big shift South of the heavier snow. As shown here:-

12z NAE T+42 (6am Fri)

Quick question: If that system coming across swings a bit to the North East, would we get convection from the Channel? I often hear of this from North Sea but never from that direction. Is it solely because winds from that direction are normally warmer?

Guys I hope we get a foot of snow, but like ive said before in the classic 1980s cold spells I remember heavy snow being in the evening forecast for the next day, and it never made it anywhere near the South East. (But it lead to a week+ really cold spell so its all good if this does happen!!)

Met Office are still suggesting rain on Sunday??? And this is their 4pm update.....at 3.40pm!!

A strong, bitterly cold wind developing Friday, and also with snow spreading eastwards. Less windy for Saturday, and also becoming milder, with rain expected later Sunday.

I usually always go with NAE in snow events and it's thrown out a beauty, NAE been up and down during the last Month though but everything backs this up this time around so it's good times ahead.

Give me constant light snow anytime rather than a huge dumping but with the threat of rain up your backside like in the West good.gif let them get excited about major snowfall totals but well have last laugh, we'll have ours longer.

Forget rain can't see it for us apart from the very South Coast.

Wouldn't go by the snow depths, they are as useful as p*ssing in the wind!
