From Ian;

W COUNTRY Fri story also consistent re heaviest snow in morning, reducing from S into midday, but poss heavier again eve Mendips northwards.

Sounds like they've considered the 06z NAE.

Happy Days!

Please everyone we need to stay calm as things stand it is looking good for majority of West Country and southern England. There will be more twists than a Chubby Checker song along the way and now it is all about nowcasting and radar watching, good luck to one and all and here is hoping to something memorable.

Currently snowing very very lightly here. According to the nearest weather station at Brixham, it's currently 5.1c with a dew pont of -3. And that's at a higher elevation (54m) than here which is approx 20 meters asl and less than half a mile from the sea.

Simon Keelings latest musing he suggests wetter snow so more depth http://www.weatherwe...nnew.php?ID=588

I've always understood that dry snow accumulates to a greater depth.

Just one example of the explanation for this:

http://www.theweatherprediction.com/habyhints/204/

"Dry snow is less dense and can therefore accumulate to a higher depth"

Maybe this ties in with my previous post regarding the fax charts showing the front stalling further west.

Even me & gtltw would get more snow from both the NAE & GFS 6z a much better upgrade for those so close to seeing the heavier precip. Very pleasing, but a long way to go! clapping.gifgood.gif

Is it not going to rain in bristol then, cause even dew points are sketchy.

No, don't panic, you are in one of the best places! Wait til around 11, the meto will have updated their warnings, both you and I should be under an amber warning then :)

Not exsessive amounts. It's quite light at the moment. Snow has turned rather wet in nature therefore is not sticking too great, but enough to turn the grass white, and patchy deposits on the roads/pavements.

Looking out of my window towards the slightly higher valleys look very white however
