Looking at the radar the main band of snow which has affected the south is still moving north the leading edge is near Bradford now

That's what's forcing the convective snow into a more easterly track isn't it?

VERY heavy snow now settling really well now. Radar showing North sea full of precip, looks like a good weekend for us coldies here in the NE.

Visibility was down to a few hundred metres in the heaviest pulses at least an inch or so deposited off the latest shower and the North Sea is full of it, I bet you people inland interpret 'full of it' differently to us on coastal fringes.!!

Its been snowing moderately for the past 5 minutes,it finally looks as though things are going to become interesting-I just hope the snowless areas get their share as well.

I was just gonna say it was like a fog before the heaviest precipitation hit us. You can see on the radar that the showers are now far more intense than the front, with these showers continuing and moving inland we are really going to see the depths increase!

Yeah we need it to shift south so we can get an easterly to develop

How come you're getting all that when I've just got broken clouds?

He's further north than you- and just a small difference in latitude is hugely important in a SE flow for this region.

It's amazing - the difference is less than four miles and yet the weather couldn't be more different

6 miles can make a hugh difference in this setup but not to worry as some longer spells on the radar for us within the hour.

It would now seem the the band is moving into the NE and Yorkshire, whilst still pulling from the coast as well.

Meteo Group radar predicts that by 18:00 we will be fully on the good stuff......unless the tack changes, which I doubt :-)
