What I don't understand is why to our north the showers that are giving Newcastle fresh snow are continuing intact miles inland after that.

Snow showers on and off all day here mostly light but are starting to increase in intensity and looking at the radar this evening is going to be very interesting indeed.

Apart from a few flakes there's not been a sausage here today. It's coming over the moors between here and Whitby so the precip is all gone by the time it gets here. I do have high hopes for this evening though!

By that time, though, the Newcastle/sunderland area will have accumulated about 3 inches compared to our big fat zero.

Very light, small snow flakes swirling in the wind in aycliff - not sure what to think about the next 24 hours. Would like to think we could see more but only time will tell. Patience is a virtue!
