Anyone? It's more pronounced in the latest radar at 8.15....

I also noticed the showers seeming to almost curl back around Southampton too and thought perhaps the wind had changed direction, no such luck. :(

Well there's definitely some quite strong activity there.....

Looks like a LOW is forming..... Not that I have a clue

Hmmm, the 'brief' snow I thought we'd get in Yeovil is continuing with good sized flakes, even though the radar says otherwise... clear cars now completely white!!

So much for clearing the paths...!

Neither do I, hence my quiet reply! :p are you guys sure that 1mm=1cm of snow in general?? Because if so, this shower could be an hour long, and therefore give me 2-4 more cm's!

Hi all,

Long time lurker coming out of the shadows! Brilliant scenes today for lots, great to see although I missed out unfortunately. Still been lucky in the past so can't complain.

Hope no one minds me asking a selfish question but is there much snow on the northern slopes of Dartmoor? I would like to take my 2 boys up tomorrow afternoon for some sledging. They are young though (2 & 4) so I won't be able to trek far! Was thinking of going up to Okehampton army camp if possible as there is good access to nice sledging hills and it is fairly high ground.

Would really appreciate any info and here's to some more dumpings in the next few days. (I love the way once the cold sets in surprise snowfall can pop up from anywhere just when you think you are going to miss out!)

S

Hello, new poster here.

Light, occasionally moderate snow in Exeter at the moment. We had heavy snow last night but none of it settled, except on the higher parts, namely behind the university and towards Exwick.

Taunton! :)

I had to share this. As soon as I saw it I thought of you lot. :D

In wintry temperatures, fill balloons with water and food colouring. When the water has frozen, remove the balloon and you have giant marbles!

OMG wow!! So doing that ;)

Incidentally, that little trough like feature (?) over parts of Cornwall, Devon and Dorset isn't moving anywhere quickly. This will catch a few folk out, should they previously thought it was all over. I wouldn't be surprised to see another 3 to 5cm from that feature before it dies down later on.

Keep the posts coming, especially observation based, DPs, AT, precipitation amounts etc. as the MetO and other authorities will be interested in the latest. Any newcomers, please can you also update your profile to show your location. good.gif

Possibly the best idea this winter.

"Apparently the Met Office have issued a red snow warning. If that's anything like what I've heard about yellow snow then I'm staying inside."

rofl.gif

Jokes aside, with the temperature not even forecast to lift above 1C in the next 3 days, I don't think there will be much thawing before we possibly get some more. We might have some bigger accumulations if this keeps up. Current temp -1.6C

Icy rain here on South Dartmoor, don't have a weather station but feels milder than this morning. Snow slushy and melting but Syd the snowman still in situ for the moment.
