If the ECM verified, then those of us with snowcover, would still have that snowcover this time next week.

A cold run with further snowfall next week. Lurvely Jubbily!

How did rest of forecast go roughly? Still don't have tv nea.gif

Dry sat, maybe the odd flurry, Sunday "watch the Low over France" this will give good acum over south east "but watch out for the side edge, westward extent uncertain, but east Wiltshire prob a "dead cert"

Beyond into Monday snow threat from south west but Ian said " I'm going to worry about that later, I have had enough stress as it stands"

Great stuff!!!

Not too bad.

Probably about as deep as a normal pint glass..

Say 3 inches maybe.

It wasnt very heavy most of the time and was mostly small fine fakes.

Would of been better with bigger flakes.

Most of the heavy PPN went north and south of here..

Yet still good.

Could of been better.

7/10

Exactly the same here, always small flakes, but the persistent nature allowed some decent accumulations. 13cm this evening (70m asl).

0.4C just east of southampton and finally STOPPED snowing. No sounds of thaw that we here can hear. Except for the bit around the Chimney!

Fantastic weather here today, started snowing just after 4am and continued for a good 7-8 hours, and it is now snowing again! Feel for anyone who missed out, but looks like there could be more opportunities in the coming days. drinks.gif

Shame my day was ruined by the ridiculous goings on at my football club lol.

Evening All, been out and about today generally messing around and taking pics up here on the Mendips. The roads weren't as bad as I thought they may be, but there were still quite a few jack knifed lorries and abandoned cars around. We ended up with about 7 inches, there's no sign of a thaw biggrin.png and it's started to snow again yahoo.gif . When this lot freezes tonight, the roads will be treacherous and if the wind picks up a bit, it'll drift quite badly as it's so powdery. Here are some pics, me, hubby, the dogs, preferred style of mendip transport and some strange snowy bumps on the horizon (Bronze age burial mounds at Priddy) oh and some cheesed off looking sheep.post-6280-0-80314300-1358536540_thumb.jppost-6280-0-12062800-1358536566_thumb.jppost-6280-0-09373000-1358536583_thumb.jppost-6280-0-65013800-1358536635_thumb.jppost-6280-0-13627300-1358536683_thumb.jppost-6280-0-31096100-1358536705_thumb.jppost-6280-0-49927700-1358536741_thumb.jppost-6280-0-24283400-1358536760_thumb.jppost-6280-0-80151400-1358536778_thumb.jppost-6280-0-68357400-1358536794_thumb.jppost-6280-0-20425700-1358536815_thumb.jp

Well the south coast snow shield failed today? good.gif

Heavy snow this morning, though it did turn sleety in lighter bursts & ended up raining this afternoon. Only had about 1inch & because of proximity to the sea it was quite slushy wet snow that has already been melting, but first snow here for 2 years so very happy drinks.gif

Temperature is now 2.1C with a dew point of 1.2C & can hear a steady drip drip.

As AWD pointed out earlier ECM is a great run for us lot tonight, once we get Sunday AND Mondays potentail out of the way, look at what ECM does on Wednesday,

Front approaching from the West,

Recm1201.gif

Disrupts (and disappears) by Thursday, with the front no doubt bringing in some snowfall to our region.

And the cold still in place

Recm1442.gif

Worth pointing out that GFS not on board, but both the Euros hold the cold pattern, and with GFS of late, I'd put my money on the ECM/UKMO.

Varying depths of snow in my back garden but I would estimate 14cm of snow fell in Patchway, North Bristol today. 16cm recorded a mile down the road at Filton Airport. Great depths at relatively low levels and no signs of any great thaw in the foreseeable future. A fantastic day and I feel like a kid again!

Yes we were out & about earlier & much more snow just north of Portsmouth, the A3 near Waterlooville was at a standstill. The seafront in Southsea had hardly any snow, just a slushy dusting.
