Appears according to the radar we could be seeing the heaviest stuff move out of the region to the East in next hour or so.

East side near jn 31a. Right on the borderline normally where the sleety mix starts. Front lawn still has green patches on it back lawn the same. Road and pavements are covered theres under a cm. But it is still putting a bit down smile.png

Been the same since last week. Theres been a snowline at Kirkham and Longridge with us stuck in the middle with bugger all. In all my years i've never seen Kirkham West to the coast with lying snow when theres nothing here.

Those traffic cam pics are pretty scary btw

This is quite astonishing. Just when i thought it was dying down, the return of the waffles occurred. I didn't think we'd have a memorable event like this for many years after December 17th 2010.

Still snowing good here, not the intensity of earlier and it is very wet stuff, but all the same we've had over 7 hours of snowfall now. Depths of between 3 and 4 inches, so quite a decent amount and the most we've managed so far this season.

BBC reckon there is a good 2-3 hours more snow to come, but I suspect it will become much lighter preety soon, already signs of it becoming light now.

Hoping for a decent morning tomorrow with snow largely intact thanks to temps staying at or around zero throughout the night and early hours, but the wind will pick up during the afternoon and I suspect a rapid thaw will set in after lunchtime before the rain arrives in the evening. Pity we couldn't have built a stronger ridge tomorrow delaying the atlantic until Sunday.

I remain hopeful that February will deliver at least an equal level of snowfall if not more and not of the wet variety i.e. one that stays around for some time.

Amazing 2 inches of wet snow on the ground outside, very slippery and the snow is lightly falling - perhaps it will turn to rain soon. The motorway stills are incredible, I hope anyone stuck on the M6 is freed soon.

In south Warrington it is some of the densest, wettest snow imaginable, only 2 inches at most. But causing far more trouble on the roads than the deeper, drier snow in previous days where the roads stayed mostly clear.

Altrincham - Lymm - Grappenhall A56 was tricky at 6pm .... wouldn't like to drive it now the salt's all washed off !
