A lot of variables. Local topography, precipitation intensity to name but two.

We had sleet and ice pellets for most of the day until that almost torrential (red on the netweather radar) precipitation passed over and changed all precipitation to snow. Big fat flakes that covered everywhere very quickly.

In marginal situations like this there will be pockets where the atmosphere is less conducive to snow.....marginally higher dew points, temps etc which make all the difference in situations like this.

Hmmm yeah, fortunately its very rare for it to happen like it has. Was just very strange how the heavier it got the wetter it got.

Think this cold spell was trolling us to be honest, last Friday it stalled on our doorstep and gave a small covering, Monday morning the heavier stuff went around us. And today, well we know that one haha

Snow has just started to turn to rain here .At least I got the opportunity to nip out and build a snowman for the kids in the morning - that's if it lasts! Late night snowman building whilst under the influence are one of the benefits of weekend snow

Just took a measure as the snow seems to be stopping now and the 6" ruler wasn't long enough!

Nice one!!, i can't believe how well WET Wigan has done, normally we're nailed on for rain in breakdowns of cold to mild
