Where are the other Ipswich folk tonight?

Just peeped outside and within the last hour it has started sticking to grass/cars etc, guessing with meto going for snow all night we could have a good covering by morning

im here just looked out light snow

roads and cars slowly turning white

I'm giving up!! We won't get anything out of this tonight...... We need our snow to come from the east!

Yep, we've seen no strong easterlies this winter and our area has had a terrible winter as a result.

Good intensity on the snow, but only really tic tac in size. So a slow old process on the covering front. All surfaces now white, with the road more of a light grey.

Glad to see someone from round here on the thread; I feel we are under-represented tonight! Will be interesting to see if we can get any accumulations by morning.

As we've seen so many times this winter for some reason most of Cambridgeshire/Norfolk/Parts of Suffolk are seeing barely a thing in the way of precip, it just fizzles out when it gets here!!! grrrr. Quietly optimistic we might be in for something better in the early hours/morning for this area as it moves away from London/Essex. Not holding much hope though :/

Yes the darker echos on radar just keep hugging the Essex coast, shall be re locating in a few years time to somewhere with elevation, good to see some getting snow though :-)

Re. Snow Depth Cup. I would suggest those of you who do have any snow to measure might want to consider a time to do that.

I want to leave measuring a final depth until midday Tuesday, just in case we have a little more snow from, by then an easterly flow.

Could you get back to me with suggestions, as from my window, I'm looking out on very wet streets here in S.E.London and I'm in the dark as to how much any of you have.

Perhaps we could agree on a time when you think would be a fair time to calculate a measurement and "bank" it, as such.

Dont think it would be fair to have that snow melt, before you've had a chance to measure.

I suggest that if the final depths on Tuesday are back to zero, those of you with the deepest amount after tonight/tomorrow morning, should be deemed the winner.

Call it Half/Time, if you like. Perhaps you could contact your opponent to discuss the state of play, I'm sure you all can come to an amicable agreement.

I'm going off to ponder if I should apply an altitude handicap, I'll get back to you on that.

Meanwhile I'll leave you with the match-ups and contact your opponent, they wont bite, even if they dont have any snow to measure, friendly bunch they are.

Glad many are seeing snow, still a damp squib here in south London. Been raining since dawn this morning, imagine if it were all snow!

A good cm covering here now, slushy on roads.

Slowing up now though.

Bottom chunk of precip on radar near south coast moving in a more NWesterly direction up the country it seems.

  • April 2024 - Was it that cold overall? A look at the statistics
