Coast or anyone from E.Sussex, is there much settling of the snow down there.

Workwise, we have Plumpton races on today, its passed an early morning inspection but there must still be a threat

of an abandonment before racing starts, if that ppn pushes further north.

Tom.

Had a very light dusting this morning in Petts Wood/Locksbottom borders.Temp currently Minus 0.8 and dry although there was quite a heavy flurry about 15mins ago.Oh to be 75miles due South of here,Northern France expecting upto 40cms!!Can you imagine that if that hit the South East...This place would be in meltdown bigtime!!Still a chance we may get 5cms tonight although i think that will be Tunbridge Wells Southwards and Eastwards.Good Luck everyone who gets hit.Enjoy!good.gif

Come on you flakes, I can see you are trying, the few little flakes flying around are trying to get bigger, even the odd 20p one out of every 200 floating on the notable wind. Temp 0.4, wind chill -5, DP -6.

Had a heavy burst for about 20 minutes here in Reigate but now back to very light fine stuff. Looks impressive when it swirls off the roofs though!

I thought Plumpton was an all weather course??!!!! I passed it first thing and it was OK, but it's chucking it down now and I would think it might get called off if this intensity continues.

I seriously hope Cheltenham is on tomorrow, have hundreds of pounds to be made on that event, heard they are putting the covers on tonight to protect the course as overnight temps are expected to plummet!

Bone dry here in RP - caught in no-man's land - too far north for the front and too far west for the showers - need the wind to back more to an easterly.

Good moring Mulzy

I have have only lived here a short time, but cannot understand whr it always seems to snow in Croydon which is only just down the drag from us.

Before you say it, these reports don't only come from Yamkin.

Just got back in from school run, it was blizzard like conditions for about 5 mins but it was only settling in patches. Getting darker again and heavy snow again, don't think it will settle on roads and paths until evening.

Yes, I've noticed that too, seems a tiny distance for such a difference to the snow experience; even Thorpe, Epsom and Sutton can vary considerably in weather experiences - just shows how it goes with snow.

I have just returned home having failed to make it into work in East Grinstead today. The traffic came to a halt in whiteout conditions between Ardingly and Turners Hill. After waiting for 30 mins I had enough and came home. It appears that the streamer combined with frontal snow is enhancing falls up there. Drifting across the road as well.

Croydon is on the path as is Bromley and Dartford and gravesend for this wind direction off the north Sea/Thames also Croydon is mostly higher ground

No, not one of those fellas, only Wolverhampton, Kempton and Southwell fortunately! wink.png

Used to go to Plumpton years ago and boy can it rain. When the S.Downs disappear, run for cover. Many times had to shelter behind the Tote building in the middle of the course. Made the mistake of wearing decent shoes/suit once, got absolutely caked in mud, never again!

Anyway,back to the weather!

Coming down heavier now here in Anerley, actually heavier than the stuff we had the other week! good.gif

Regards,

Tom
