flying to glasgow (from gatwick) early on saturday am - will i make it??

Probably not, looks like a foot of snow could hit Crawley over the weekend, you may be grounded for some time.

I KID, I KID!!

Latest BBC forecast just said the rain moving in Thursday night will start to turn to snow. The snow will only effect Northern England and Scotland.

They dont seem very confident about any snow south of the Wash - at the minute. !

I'd recommend seeing what they say Thursday night.

Take a peek in the Model Discussion room. They are getting very excited again over the latest set of charts....

I'm sure that, last-week, the 'experts' were warning us that Snowmageddon was due today...When's it expected now, I wonder, next Tuesday?rofl.gif

Evening all :)

I certainly don't think anyone was saying that for this part of the world. Indeed, the concensus was that we were done with winter and that the Atlantic would sweep through. Tonight we are in a very different place. It seems unlikely we will get any snow out of the initial push though there may well be a fair splash of rain. Friday looks less cold (9-10c isn't really mild for late March to be fair). Then as the incoming system hits the advancing block and retreats, the real question is whether there will be snow on its backedge for us ?

I'm to be convinced to be honest but we will see a return to much colder conditions once again after a brief milder interlude. We've rea\lly two ways of breaking out of the cold - one is an Atlantic incursion, the other is a sinking HP to the East which would swing winds into a S'ly quarter (and this option was doing the rounds last week only to be dropped).

I love rhetoric... there's just not enough about these days (-: el'oh'el

brings to mind "tomorrow is the today you worried about yesterday"

But good luck for those in the North and North East of our region if it pans out like this!

However if things start south correcting again, they normally move a little more each run, worth keeping an eye on for now, if this south correcting happens, someone, I think it was steve murr called it a few days ago in the mod thread.

Looks like I'm on the border again for this possible snow later this week.

But the ever trend of the slow shift south will keep me happy.

I am starting to worry we might be seeing a freak weather year and will stay like this till next spring or forever ahghhhhh.

There's no sign on the models of any warmth??

I can remember snow in march ,but I can't remember such low temps for a prolonged period in march?
