YAY! Doing a (slight) happy dance. Just heard my first clap of thunder this year. Poor Alice's feet didn't touch as I whisked her outside to introduce her to thunder. :D But no more so far.

Hail, heavy rain, thunder too, never seen the birds fly so fast!

Ditto, finally arrived in SE25 after threatening to the north for the last hour or so.

A few neighbours rushing out to take washing in, fooled by the fine weather this morning.

The constant wind gusts have been a noteable feature here in Nw London for the last few days. I cant find all the official figures from RAF Northolt, but its been gusting at or over 30mph almost every hour in the last few days. Quite something for an inland site.

When the squall front went through earlier the gusts were 48mph, and the temperature plummeted.

And a further rumble, if only it was 30c too, would be perfect

It's still grumbling around but going away now. Thought we may get summat though as it was getting very dark to the south and you could se the rain up in the clouds. Smells lovely and fresh now. :)

Black skies one way, the other bright sunshine, beautiful to look at.

Sun's out again now. As John says, all very April. We didn't have a huge amount of rain and no very strong winds either, but a reasonable start to the convective season.

hi steve

looks like we could see a lively period as you say a reasonable start

what we need now is some heat and that will come at some stage

Looks like the heavens are about to open.

Thanks to the wind my hair resembles that of a scarecrow.

And just come over very cloudy and dark.

In other news it remains "mild" when you look back just  short while.

Must have been letting go I feel. We've had winds like this week and rain and snow like this year 10/50/100/500 years ago, this Oak I feel was giving up....perhaps beginning to die?

Yeah, s'pose your right Paul but still feel sad, especially with all the possible history associated with it.

Oh yes, you think how many monarchs it went through, dated back to the time when Vikings ruled the UK ohmy.png
