Not a technical view, but boy! those skies have a Thundery look to them, here in Newbury. Posted Image

I think it's gonna pee down later.

Well we've had a far brighter day than expected so far, so the temps are much higher than forecast (24.7c here earlier as opposed to 21c on last night's Points West). And there are now storms moving into Devon which were completely unforecast!

The light rain shown over my area right now is not reaching the ground and I would say for our region it's a definite nowcast, radar/detector watching rest of the day.

Not getting my hopes up just yet but the ppn looks quite intense coming towards western areas? Lots of red echoes on the netweather radar. Posted Image

The question is: head down to the harbour festival or not? Looks like it's gonna be a washout later, tbh.

The sky here in West Dorset looks to be full of energy.

5 minute torrential downpour here - lovely smell of warm and wet having reached 24C so far today. Where did those Devon storms come from?! Fingers crossed for a dry evening at the Harbour Festival.

Just started chucking it down here also - 5 minutes before I completed clearing the hedge clippings, typical!

Very little wind though.

Rather a lot of cloud-fuelled liquid heading our way, it seems.

The further West you are in the region (bar the far SW) the greater the likelihood of heavier pulses of rain with potential for further embedded Thundery outbreaks. Suffice to say, other developments are likely as we head into the evening. That would be my analysis of the situation over the coming hours.

See the current radar imagery below.

Rain arriving into many parts of the West Country now, roughly on time too.

However, wasn't expecting those storms along the South East Devon/South West Dorset area. It does seen as though any thundery activity is isolated though, but admittedly, more than I thought.

I'm interested in how much rainfall we could get over the next 12 hours or so as looking at the radar, some places locally could recieve a fair bit.

The sun has broken through just ahead of the heavy rain, cloud is very black to the W/SW, and the temp has shot up to 25.4c!

Rain just started here in East Bristol. Not too heavy but some nice large drops falling.

EDIT: Getting increasingly heavier now.

Feel sorry for the folk down the harbour festival.

Was lovely when I was down there at lunch time, but with limited indoor areas, and very few people wearing coats (some wearing little at all), I fear a few wet people/stalls now.

Reports on twitter of heavy rain and lightening in Exeter

Can confirm that, very loud thunder at 1.40 just before we left. Saw no lightening though. Rain getting heavier here
