hi mark

i agree with you

being weather enthusiasts we all want to see extreme weather

but then when damage and potential for injuries come up it makes it an awkward feeling

as none of us want to see that side.

i suppose none of us can change this whatever we feel

Can I mention now that if anyone sees damage happening in their garden during a storm, DON'T go out to try to secure anything! A few people have got killed that way in many storms from '87 and onward. Stay safe everyone. You have tomorrow to make everything secure. Do it then even if it turns out not to be necesary in the end. you just may be very thankful on Tuesday that you had foresight.

I don't know if its panic buying but went to tescos after work and there was only blue milk ( they normaly have a full stock lol.......)However i am wondering whether I should stock up on some torches?????

Its always worth having torches or candles indoors .We had a power cut here not that long ago & i was greatful i had my late at night dog walking torch to hand Posted Image

Urghh I see the kids are out to play in the thread about Monday. There was me thinking it might be safe in there now as I'm sure it's way past their bedtime. Should have known to stay in here and listen to JP

Urgh, not looking good, plus

We have another low moving east along the jet from the states, mentioned this in the model thread earlier that this could be a repeat performance at the end of next week

GEM shows the potential there

Hope it doesn't happen

hi tom

that chart from 18z gfs is a tad concerning as that would put the stronger winds later

that would be around 8-9am for the strongest gusts (rush hour)

so lets see what tomorrow afternoon shows

hi jules

thanks

stay here as we all like a good chat and a giggle

but do take stuff like this seriously and will update with the latest info

as and when available

Hmmm... Don't know how to attach charts but 18GFS seems to up the ante even more.

Not liking the wind speed one with purple colours over my neck of the woods. Not entirely sure how strong "purple" winds are but suspect it's not good!

Does look a pretty colour though but yea a tad worrying I must admit. I was kinda hoping we would get some protection from the Downs. We shall see.

Hi Jules. Certainly prettier than the black blob off the cost of Devon. I'm guessing it's game over if you're stuck under that!

I dunno that black blob (such a technical term eh) gets a bit too close to us for my liking!

Still felt warm on the way home from Croydon a while ago.

We could have a name the strength and location of the highest gust, Competition?

No its not a joke, anyway still having therapy for the Snow Depth Competition! Posted Image

Helllooooo and it's not even forecast to snow

What's confidence is there in this and is this type of event easier to predict than snow events (that often come to nothing)

I'm meant to be driving to Maidstone Monday for a computer course - not much point if no power!

Also IMBY I'm not sure but we lost trees locally and my fence flew off just a week or so ago !

i reckon centre of low

windspeed probably around the purple area

best pretend that chart is wrong

for now anyway

You think the GFS is bad, NAVGEM sees the GFS and raises this

Hi John, wow! pub run is a brute, think it can only downgrade from that, can't imagine how it could possibly get any worse, looks like the backdrop to a 1960's Pink Floyd concert!

Just poked my head out of the window and although it is quite windy it is warm, well for this time of year!!

Have just let the dogs out and couldn't believe how warm it felt. Just checked Met O Herstmonceux was 16.5 at 2300.

Right then.....me batteries on 8% and it'll take a fortnight to charge. So....night night all, sweet (and windy) dreams and we shall see what the week end brings.

Stay safe. Goodnight. xx :)

CHIMET shows air temp 16.2C and sea 14.8C, my weather station says 16.4C. Crazy for October and that warm sea water will only fuel this storm.
