Evening netters,

After the snow in Cairo on Friday, spare a thought for Israel today

The little 'baby Jesus' was around there 2013 odd years ago....According to my little one who had her nativity play yesterday.

Evenin each. Crumbs! It's a tad breezy out there tonight. I think this time of year is definitely the windy season in the UK ( and that's without the sprouts :) )

Hope you're all having a good week-end. :)

Wish I could remember the date, probably early nineties but it was so mild in December, I was walking around in  a t shirt . Christmas Day kicked off with a huge thunderstorm ...then in January , the wind turned bitter and biting and it snowed and snowed.  This was in the Watford area....further up in the Chilterns it lay in deep drifts and blocked roads....

I remember falling on my ass one New Years Day in the snow on Dunstable Downs.  It would have been the mid - nineties but not sure of the exact year.

hi all

just looking at ecm

between 168-192

Posted Image

Posted Image

at 168 look to our south west

you can see very tight isobars there

this will tighten up as it crosses up across us

will need a watch

also at 216

Posted Image

see how the low pushes up against high pressure and really closes up the isobars

then at 240

Posted Image

note how that low is moving east

the next frame may put us under a very strong and cold north westerly

note the 500 temps

Posted Image

not seeing much stopping that going across us

that would change the wind direction and turn it much colder

also note the jet is dropping further south here

Posted Image

Posted Image

so keep watching the charts as changes can happen quick in this current pattern

also i am not ruling out some white stuff at christmas even if it is just a passing shower

re tonight

Posted Image

note how tight these isobars are

theres your wind

Just looking through some old coins which we founded when digging out some footings a few years ago. Having looked closely one appears to be dated 1806 but is in poor condition so can really tell. Weather wise the wind is shaking the windows!

Hi John,

Trouble is its going to be very difficult to get on the right side of that low pressure system without

any mid atlantic ridge.

It may just stall in that possition and keep us in a cool North westerly flow with lots of cold rain.

Shotski.

well Southernman just phoned me from Reedham and said its very windy and raining there.

I can't work out if its the wind I'm hearing against the windows, or if its street noise.it can't be that windy here, because i'd hear it in the chimney.

Hi there

I dont know if it has already been mentioned on here but sunday evening at 7.30pm on C4 is a program called killer storms, not very good timing seeing what may possibly lay ahead for us this christmas time.
