I've certainly seen better but that wasn't too shabby.

This is the best thunderstorm I have ever experienced in my life.

wait, what?

Not a lot of storm activity out there now although still some storms rumbling around the Dorset area and a small one near to Reading. Where I live it is cloudy and misty, certainly does not look or feel stormy. However, the main risk is further south than me but probably focused slightly further north than was the case yesterday. I am looking at somewhere close to the M4 and about 50 miles north of this for best chances later today this evening/overnight. Possibly London area a sweet spot.

I guess excitement gets the best of us all from time to time :D

Great Thunderstorm from 5:30am until about 8:30am here in Exeter with on and off torrential rain from about 7am until 8:30am.....Certainly not as epic as the french storms that got insane amount of lightening strikes a minute but decent enough by our standards but not the best we've had this year.

yesterday evening was epic here, although I imagine to the north-west it must have been even more so.

I'm at a wedding reception this evening and won't be able to photograph anything so rest-assured, Hampshire will get some epic storms tonight.

Just had the Dorset storm pass overhead, heavy rain but the storm must be high level as no lightning observed and constant thunder although barely audible over the tv with the window open, nice to hear though.

Looks like the south east is missing out on the thunderstorms again :(

For today ATM yes, but that was always gonna be the case, its later on when the SE will get some. Lovely sunny and humid here as it was sposed to be early on. The weather in the SE is building its own  T Storm  conditions as we speak and things are going well.

interesting to note how dark it is out there. If it was colder it would look like an early December morning

First audible thunder in Andover

Rumbles of thunder in Totton (Southampton).

Strangely the sky looks 'boring grey' like an anticyclonic winter's day.

Yes but where you cant see is that the clouds are towering quite high, there are similar clouds over the Midlands too where I would expect thunderstorms to break out over the next few hours.

nice line of storms developing rapidly through Dorset through South Wiltshire into Hants....plenty of sferic detctions......this line looks to be drifting slowly north, so hopefully will arrive here in an hour or two.......current conditions here are 100% cloud cover, layer of low cloud which the sun is showing hints of burning though........interestingly the sat24 visible imagery shows a definite circulation over southern England

by the way, somebody posted a link to this site earlier/yesterday, but I cant find the original post to thank them and give credit

.

It's awesome and I cant stop watching it. Seems to be pretty accurate for CG's too, i just saw one "appear" around the Wherwell area and watched the soundwave expand until it passed over where I am and there was a nice peeling rumble of thunder.

Try it out. If it is there then it is under Extra Lite/Radar & Lightning menu. It is called the New UK Lightning Archive :good:

Thanks for posting those lightning maps Mapantz.

Storm reported late morning by my wife who is at school near Salisbury, nothing today yet in Warminster but the sun is slowly burning through the murk which is making for quite a tropical feel - certainly a lot of energy in the atmosphere.
