The showers have been struggling to get across to the Northeast as is usual in this setup, but do seem to be trying harder in the last hour.

I think it will be the small hours before they manage to get over to us better could do with some heavier showers as well so they stand a better chance of getting over the pennines

Our best friend when it's rain; our worst enemy when it's snow.

Snowing and looks to be getting heavier. With the ground solid cold should get some nice accumulations over next week hopefully :)

Nice to see showers just making it over the Pennines according to radar.

think showers will be few and far between east of the pennines tonight... usual suspects will see a bit snow ie, consett. an occluded front may pep up the showers later tonight then a band of wintry ppn spreads south across the region in the early hours of sunday morning.

I want snow and lots of it...damn it

Well it's snowing here at shildon now... i'm happy

Went into the garden to watch it under the security light... mesmerising as ever :)

SOuth of the region looks in for a decent covering.. this spell has certainly favoured areas from Darlo south.

To all those of you who have had snow.

Go away.

Latest BBC forecast didn't make much of the snow on Sunday.

This could change of course but for now nothing to get excited about by the looks of things.

They will evaporate by the time they get over here won't they?

Not sure... my technical understanding of this is poor, but these showers pepped up over land rather than convecting in from the sea... in my experience the former tend to make it over more than the latter.

A few more flurries getting over the Pennines and starting to fall but quite light.

detail will change as I said earlier in the day, I would not get hung drawn and quartered over it in all honesty. I think sunday is our best chance in one way but there is no real indication its going to amount too much but we shall see.

I hope they aren't moving west. :p

Must be a trough or a weak front forcing these developing showers.

BBC forecasting an occluded front to pass through so the more organised showers may make it across the pennines, be localised where they will hit though and indeed for those at lower levels whether they will fall as snow or not!

BBC 6-10 Forecast shows a blob of white moving south on Sunday,

Looks a bit hit and miss to be honest, and going by how often the forecast changes the BBC weather app on my phone its hard not to be sceptical,

Taking it literally Sunday morning could be an alright shout

Well just looked outside and a shower must of went past as there is splodges of dampness around, looks like rain may of just fallen but either way not missed much.

Had a couple of very light rain showers here in the last hour or so.

Some freaking cold spell this is

"Wet" is the new "white" don't ya know :D

I've come to realise that unless we get a NE'ly, our region really is one of the worst (at lower levels) for snow. :(
