Down to 0.4C here now, having spent most of the day hovering between 1C and 2C.  It's been snowing heavily on and off all day but there's not much to show for it.  A few mm in favoured spots but no more than that.  The Lomonds' tops are nice and white though :)

Superb snowfall here at the moment, started off at 1.45am with the temperature at 2.7C but turned immediately to snow, massive flakes and the temperatures now sitting at 1.2C. Given how wet the ground was it took a while to do much but it is starting to lie. Got a bit lighter in the last 10 mins with something more like soft hail but looks like more on the radar, some of it very heavy looking. Almost no wind either!

Should be hitting Edinburgh soon by the look of the radar, just dodged some incredibly heavy stuff which gave lying snow on the A92 dual carriageway at Kirkcaldy (Cluny West):

Yep... And it's heavy sleet at best unfortunately. Temp still too high - back up to 4c at airport at 3am. Really strange given the temps elsewhere.

Up for the loo to see lovely large flakes falling and lying.   Everything white!

Finally something approaching a proper snow shower. Very heavy but lasted only a few minutes. Was starting to lie on the grass. Fingers crossed - at last the temp appears on its way down!

That's dedication, staying up til half four for that :D

We've had falling snow here, not settling but the ground is crusted with black ice. I've dropped MrsC off at work up the road, and it's extremely icy out in Kelso. The ice up the hill (a whole 30m higher than here) is white, so would guess another 50-100m will have settled snow. I'm going back to my bed, stinking migraine this morning. Fingers crossed for some proper snow, radar looks good but I'm thinking it'll be more falling snow not settling and adding to the extreme ice conditions. There's going to be carnage on the roads down here this morning.

Wife hit the nail on the head - "It's half stained glass windowing 4! You're the biggest kid in the house"!

Getting a slow covering of hail probably a mix of sleet/hail this morning plus some pretty violent cracks of thunder, and was awoke this morning at 5 by one. Last night just before bed we got a small snow shower here but the showers, at least last night, seemed to be getting ripped apart by the wind anyway so not much to speak of.

There's been a fairly decent dusting of snow over night - not that much though, can still see the grass peeping through!
