Been in Crewe all evening, heavy sleety snow showers on and off. Drove back to Nantwich and was a lot dryer and had started to freeze over (something that hasn't happened on other nights) and we have just had a nice snow/hail shower and has left a covering on the frozen cars etc.

It feels a lot colder tonight Ben, more than it has done during this spell.

That's exactly what I thought.  When I got back about 40 mins ago i checked the top of my neighbours car and it was frozen, even my car said 1 degree.  Bodes well for later.

Something more substantial coming down the Irish Sea perhaps?

P.S up for joining me and Jord (Backtrack) on a storm chase if the situation should arise in the summer?

It was snowing hard in Burnley when I came through about an hour ago.

Roads were white and no signs of even sleet, never mind rain.

That band over inverness is what we should get around 02:00 tomorrow as seen here. attachicon.gif1.png

It's already beefier than the image shows you but this isn't always a good thing.

looks to be our last in the next 48hrs

There was (last time I looked anyway) a band of ppn due to move down over Saturday night too...

Haha exactly what ive done last few nights.

Drove back weds night expecting a forecasted 'dumping': got nothing.

Thurs night: Hype and polar lows: Got a 1cm covering which melted by morning after.

Today: Rain. No snow to be seen anywhere.

Totally bemused as I have been every winter with the exception of winter 10/11.

Think it's going to rain here temp 1c dew -1

How could it possibly rain with a temp of 1 and a dp of -1.......is what you would say if you lived anywhere apart from the UK!

Think the small showers have danced around here. Still got a slight covering on grass from last night's snow. Clear and cold, can see the ice crystals on the pavement. Bodes well for the two bands currently pushing SE.

Yep. It's also the only place in the world where -5C actually is "too cold to snow".

The worst of both worlds! :nonono:

Definitely, It I wasn't busy all weekend I would love a snow treck over to our east. lol.

Yes, well I reckon we are in for a good chance of a dusting tonight with the Cheshire Gap showers and the stuff moving down the Irish Sea... another night for the radars!

Area developing around Blackpool should bring wet snow to Greater Manchester below 100m.

Right now I think the snow level is fluctuating at around 90 meters.

Rain in Cheadle Hulme (75m). Snow in Higher Poynton. (110 m).

light snow at 104 just
