Lets just all remember how bad last winter was - non stop mild, windy rubbish. At least we have a 'cold spell' as such! There's even been some snow :D

Regarding tonight's Thames estuary possibilities. There is the chance of some light snow showers in that area, but accumulations will be light if any.

Shame! I was hoping with sub -10 uppers convection would have really kicked in.. Any thoughts why not this time?

Got very dark cloud looking like it's driffiting this way a wee bit, thinking it will be rain, if it's anything white I'll be jumping about like a little kid lol.

Light snow falling in Dunstable. Elevation has certainly helped - c 1.5cm of lying snow. I hope that Kent gets to see some decent snow action later on. I lived in Folkestone for many of my childhood years in the late 70s and early 80s. Experienced some great convective snow events. My sons at Uni in Canterbury so if it does kick off I will be on the phone to him. Have a good day everyone.

Is that due to lack of PPN Nick?

High pressure will suppress convection unfortunately, despite the decent lapse rate. Although it should be sufficient enough to produce a few snow showers, I'd estimate up to 1cm in places.

Lack of precipitation / moisture or higher pressure I would think.
