From Stockport there's sheet lightening every few seconds with near continuous rubblesof thunder. Amazing light show

Just sat outside for a few minutes thought my eyes where playing tricks, the sky is flashing like crazy to the West

thought I needed to go to Specsavers but no it is definitely flashing

Lightning is all over the place here I hope not getting any power cuts at this rate!!

Sheet lightening and heavy rain. Superb show lighting up the night sky every couple of seconds. Best lightening storm in recent memory.

Just spoke to my friend who is sat on a high point in West Lancs the sky in the whole area is  just flashing, mainly IC

Yep it's broken loose here now too, heavy rain falling lightning flashes almost every other second now - only a few rumbles of thunder though.  Impressive show.

I can hear distant rumbles to my east, is that Runcorn way....................think its coming my way(back off out side)

If you're in Aintree then yes, the East Lancs Road goes almost due east towards to Manchester.  All the main activity seems to be centred on Warrington and Manchester, with Runcorn and Northwich on the outskirts.  Looks like the rain is stopping while electrical activity has ceased.  What I did notice is the absence of any wind because you'd expect strong winds from both updraughts and downdraughts as the storm passes.

It is vey still here, no wind at all

Amazing lightening show.

Almost constant flashes for the last half hour or more.
