Just had a light shower, sun back out.  Nice clouds around. quite a few showers running round me in a circle, as is typical.

Can I request a few less clouds between the shower ones so I can see their lovely shapes? Thanks.

Agreeded.

The shower heading to my East looks like it will pep up for some lucky people. Looking forward to the school run and be able to have a real good look :)

Just had a short, sharp shower with some hail in it. Made the temperature drop from 14.5c to 10.8c. A few more bit and pieces moving this way too.

Edit: A rumble of thunder now from those bright echoes running east.

The first big shower rattled through Hadleigh at 11.00 this morning. I was working at a local farm and captured this photo across the farmyard as the shower cloud moved away. Don't you just love days like these!

Wonderful cloud over Hadleigh post-20040-0-18103600-1432037152_thumb.j

From the radar, plenty more beefy showers for our region showing up. post-20040-0-39182000-1432037166_thumb.j

I have visitors over soon, so will have to stop my frequent cloud watching out of the window.

I will be cross if a storm arrives.

Lovely cloudscapes today, got hit by marble sized hail up in Chatteris earlier, would have been a perfect storm chasing day, but alas work at 5pm here in Chelmsford.

Lightening activity has increased rapidly over the last hour. Up from a strike rate of 118 per hour at 13.30 to 163 per hour at 14.30. There looks to be a big storm moving east just to the south of London.

Edit: And for the record, the strike rate is up to 201 per hour this evening at 19.15  post-20040-0-28926800-1432060931_thumb.j

Wow- the first proper convective day of the year in my opinion. It started out nice with some beautiful anvils going past (however not over us), and also some HUGE towers from Cumulonimbus clouds (cumulonimbi?). Then at around 14:00, their was a heavy hail shower with one rumble of thunder (although I didn't see the lightning). That went and throughout the afternoon we have had moderate showers (nothing of particular interest).

Then at around 1700 we had a hail shower, no thunder though.

That was insane! I've never seen such a heavy prolonged hail shower in my life. The garden is blanketed in white! Had a mini thunderstorm as well, about a good 5 close strikes a rumbles. wasn't expecting that!

Looking south from MK to the rain near Luton.

I only heard one rumble today.

Hoping sunset illuminates the anvils before they die away.

Posting this poor quality phone pic, simply because I was amused that the same shot from a different person elsewhere in town has been posted to the gallery.

It was a decent convective day yesterday, plenty of heavy showers, saw a few flashes of lightning and got soaked a couple of times during work.

Models completely dropped today's storm risk nothing on the models at all

Then what is happening around Ipswich at the moment? The models aren't always correct...

Nice day today, however cloud increasing in the afternoon with a few dribs and draps of rain.
