Was wonderful on the north coast today - breeze to keep the WFs down, full sun and almost warm. Faint Aurora just now too.  Couldn't really have been much better.

The 00z GFS ensemble chart for Aberdeen has a 850hpa temperature spread ranging from -6ºc to +17ºc at the end of the run. I think that should cover most bases?

the cloud broke today raising the temp by about 5C and making it feel much warmer despite the strengthening SE wind. Clouded over again in the evening. Max was 17C.

Another splendid day in the north with clear skies from early.  More high cloud today and now some low cloud to the west to snuff out a potential colourful sunset.

Fabulous day strong south wind ,sunshine and low humidity and 16c maximum.Started with one combine at lunchtime and got a second a few hours later (nothing else in area now ripe enough) ,80% of spring barley now cut, grain just got dryer and dryer all day.  Had  a frenetic time carting from two large combines but just managed it , fields of standing grain vanished by the hour. Wind has just dropped out and dew came down as we stopped. Combines away to fuel up ready for tomorrow as two other farms said they would go tomorrow

A very tired happy farmer especially if next weeks forecast is near the mark.  Will try to get some of the straw baled tomorrow. Will post some photos later

Beautiful day here reaching 22'C, wall to wall sunshine and an occasional light breeze, the best for sometime.

The past few days have been just magic, a wee bitty breezy today with high cloud, but guess what....back to normal service tomorrow! It was fun while it lasted!

Decent day here yesterday and started off the same this morning i.e broken cloud and sunny spells. Cloud has rolled in this afternoon though, along with light mist and a brisk wind so back to 'yuck'. High so far today was 15.3C at 11am, dropped now to 14.0C.

A SE wind just doesn't seem to work well at all for this neck of the woods. In summer it just brings cool misty gunk. In winter there's too much 'modification' for it to bring snow. I for one won't be too disappointed with the weekends change to more westerly weather.

Wet, cool and very windy. The rain has been heavy at times but is easing a little now.

Feel sorry for my daughter who has been working outside all day at the horse thingy at Blair Athol.

So much for a windy day yesterday! It turned out flat calm and midge hell! However, normal service has now been resumed and we have horizontal rain up here. Currently 10c, pressure 995. Autumn has arrived!

Pleasant enough to sit outside with the laptop at the moment in Inverness.

[edit]

Probably shouldn't have posted that looking at the black cloud to the SW though!

A fine day mostly sunny with fresh S wind which allowed us to bale a field of old fashioned small bales of barley which we put in mini stacks of 22 to drive home on  the  grab Just as well we did as had a heavy shower at about 5.00pm . Dryed up after and we have just finished stacking them in the shed .  Must have reached about 16c after 6c first thing this morning. Superb viisbility with the cliffs at Dunbeath showing up clearly across the Firth.

Cool start to the day at 4c but blue skies and sunshine.

It couldn't be more different at the opposite end of the country NL. 11.5ºC, grey skies and raining here.

Here we get the worst of both worlds, about 6.5C this morning when I looked before breakfast, cloudy and wet.

Yesterday was decent though. Managed to get out for a cycle late afternoon and it was pleasant enough. A tad cool when out of the sun and in the wind, but feeling warm in the sunny patches. Too few of the former and not quite enough of the latter though whilst I was out.
