Sounds like your thermometer may be reading a bit high there SWS, highest temperature on official stations in Scotland is 15c so far today, and 18.7c would put you up there with the warmest temps down in southern England.

Wet and cold up here, totally different to yesterday, although I was amazed how quickly it changed - one minute still sunny and warm then suddenly the wind came up, the clouds rolled in and that was that!

Perhaps a little...

But firstly, there are no stations remotely near me (which are accurate, eskdalemuir is not representative).

Secondly, we're all walking about in shorts or at least just t-shirts, no jumpers.

Thirdly, I was down in Taunton this morning, driving up the M6 the warmest reading I got was around Stoke and it felt no warmer than when I returned here.

So perhaps a degree or so but there's no way it's below 16c, I'd say at least 17c.

I'll give you 1.7c if you really want ;) but I don't see how I can wear shorts in <16c when I'm just standing about.

Everyone in FB is saying how the good weather is continuing and that they are going to beer gardens in preparation for Scotland's match tonight.

Window is open in my room and has been for the past few days. Room temperature is 21.6c so I can't see that correlating with a sub 16c outside temperature when the window is open (small room big window, old cold house).

I'm not trying to shoot you down, I'm only trying to argue why I feel my recording isn't outrageously high...

Cool drizzly day here   neeps  (turnips) loving it currently 7.6c with a  fresh NE wind. The drizzle is welcome the cold is not.

Considering this was meant to be a cool day, can't complain really. Cloudy but bright, fairly humid and comfortable at 18.7c

You live circa 200 miles to my north but okay....

Currently, 16.2c

I'll add further:

Shap - 15.1c

Keswick - 15.7c

Eskdalemuir - 14.2c

Official recordings.

Shap and Eskdalemuir are around 1,000ft (Shap is highest part of the M6 I'm pretty sure) so hence unrepresentative.

Keswick is only 0.5c below my reading. So it's hardly wildly out, perhaps 0.5-1c ie normal variation and that typical of non-official observations.

Nothing like single digits

You'll soon learn not to argue with SWS, there'll only ever be one outcome...

Utter rubbish here today - cold, low cloud, drizzle or rain most of the day.

Smidge works best but tbh, the only escape really is not to live in the Highlands.  Some people seem to be more bothered than others though.

I think you need to get it looked into, temp you record on a daily basis always seem to be 2 or 3 degrees higher than everyone else in Scotland.

I seen you talking about 25 degrees recorded yesterday? That can't be right - would get it checked out if I was you.

Sounds like it is stuck on the London setting rather than Dumfries. 😅😅😅

On sunny days I'm more than happy to admit that it can read a bit over. Maybe as much as 2 degrees.

On a cloudy day though, I can't see it being wildly out.

Regardless, people were in beer gardens, people wearing shorts or certainly only t-shirts round town.

That wouldn't be something associated with sub 15c temperatures I'm sure you'd agree. 18.7c maybe is a little on the high side...

Yes, it's an interesting micro-climate. Most annual sunshine in Scotland but as you say in settled high pressure weather the risk of haar is never far away. The best set up (warm as well as sunny) here comes from high pressure to the south with a light SWly flow. That prevents onshore breezes - Leuchars recorded 30c a couple of summers back. Crail, where I live, is typically much cooler than St Andrews or Leuchars in the summer due to being stuck right out in the North Sea/ Forth estuary. This week when Leuchars was recording 22c and 23c it was only 14c or so in Crail. And of course regulars on here know all about how snowless it is in winter!

Great place to live despite the cool summers and mild winters!

That said it's miserable this morning for the Food Festival. Cool and cloudy with rain not far away.

Surprised that much difference in temperature between Crail and St Andrews this week.. The winter isn't too bad up there compared to the West of Scotland. There can be a fair bit of dry weather up there while the West is battered with horrible blustery showers. These die off further east making the likes of North East Fife sunny and dry all day.. Even rain bands from warm fronts can die off just making it a day of high cloud rather than rain and it clears out at sea..

Hello Northern Lights, flew over Western Scotland on Friday morning on route to LGW from Vancouver YVR , surprised to see so much snow on the higher peak tops to the east of the flight plan. Looked like more than on parts of the Rockies which had a low snowfall last winter, especially on the coastal divide and the Cascades. Even at 41,000 feet altitude had a good view of snow on Ben Nevis before starting descent.

I was up in Inverness on Wednesday and was amazed at the amount of snow still visible on Ben Wyvis. It was a warm clear day in Inverness so the contrast was very evident. Much more than usual I suspect for mid June. Going back down the A9 the other area with more snow than usual were the hills on the Western side of Drummochter out towards Ben Alder.

Thanks, definitely don't want to move from the highlands - loving it here so far! So will go with the smidge.

Weather today isn't bad, better than expected. Feels a bit cool, but I have my shorts on so it must be what, 30c? (Joke SWS!)

At least 25 mate ;)

Not home so don't know what temperature it is. Pretty chilly here in Stirling anyway. Hopefully the warm weather will return soon

Turned into a sunny afternoon after a cloudy start, so nice end to the Food Festival. Wind still off the sea though so temperature pegged back to 12c despite the sun.

Been out a bit over the weekend and boy has it felt cold when exposed to the wind.  Some wonderfully clear air at times but in mid June I'd happily forfeit a little clarity for some warmth.

Runner beans are just pathetic - by this time they should be as tall as me, but they're still about 18" high, miserable wee frost-damaged mites; I don't think there's time to make up the growth before they start setting pods so the crop will be poor this year.  Also seen potato fields near here that are just starting to show green; mine in the garden are better but not by much so the home-grown 'earlies' will be expensive.  Well, come to think of it, most Scottish-grown crops will be expensive this year.

Roll on summer... :cc_confused:

And... Cripes (being the strongest expletive allowed for us children)! Just reminded myself why looking at the MT is not sensible.  Most of those pornographers live at least 500 miles outh of here.

HC  Strawberries still flowering and we will not see any fruit this side of Wimbledon and yet over the last ten years we have had ripe berries in mid June several times .Even the bulk of the swifts in  the house eaves only arrived in the last four. days .We had two pairs arrive in the middle of May but arriving in mid June is how I always remember their arrival and so we are going back to the original times. Fine wintry sunset over the Firth.  Currently 8c.

Well, you are in the coldest place in Europe at the moment based on latest surface temps, colder than mainland Europe and on a parr with Iceland. Sweden also suffering late growth. My daughter still has central heating on. So much for the land of the mid-night sun. Just back fro a visit to British Columbia, suffering fro drought and record heat !

If i could get rid of one weather phenomenon living in west/central Scotland it would have to be the azores high. Mild drizzle muck in winter warm drizzly midge muck in summer. At least it has it's fanboys/girls in the model thread. 12.8c and drizzle NICE
