Ok so my attention is now diverted to the cell over near Salisbury that's making it's way north east.

A few drops of rain, but, nothing noteworthy.

Amazing skies this evening, though.

Spot the plume :db:

In the angle of light from the sun setting in the west the plume becomes visible as the rounded hazy area ahead of the destabilizing atmosphere over the SW UK. Satellites are great toys methinks..

Regards

Been following this over the channel hoping for something Weymouth/Portland way, hate it when it's firing in towards us then it veers east! However, looking rather dark outside and a strong breeze and I have a stinking headache so maybe we will see something here!

Welcome aboard the forum, James. :)

A great pic that is with those interesting Altocumulus cloud structures. Hopefully something for you there later.

If you can, though, could you please put your nearest location in your profile so we know where the reports are coming from. Cheers.  :good:

The Shoreham AIrport/Brighton City Airport webcam is quite good as it pans around looking partially at the sky. Can see some development to the SW www.flybrighton.com/webcam

If only the storms would form where the best ingredients are... i.e. over here, then bingo! Have had plenty of thundery precursory clouds this evening.

That description shows how difficult this is to predict. I feel my location tomorrow will be the /breeding ground' for storms N and East of here.

to be fair the bbc did show one or two 2 heavy showers with the odd rumble as they call it in the area of london or southern england overnight but nothing major and not much showing in the SW either their main focus was showers/storms in northern england / scotland tomorrow afternoon onwards they did also say it would not be blue sky and a lot of white milky skies tomorrow

yes , thought that all along , another over rated event on the cards, the wigan storm sheild flexing its muscles to deflect any storms that come within 20 miles of its powerful zapping energy field  ., its charging itself up as we speak,

seeing  distant anvils towards the north , cumbria, north lanchashire moors etc , will be the days event, and watching them move away of course :nonono: , just might hear a rumble from a developing shower before noon,  if i am very very lucky :(

Not the best cam as it skips frames, but in a way is better as it has just shown a lightening strike out at sea from Boscombe and it seems as slow motion
