lightning spotted a few times, though it's elevated, no thunder heard. I suspect things have stabilised a little this far west as nothing seen in a while.

OK rapid development now within the plume. Cells forming just off the south coast around Dorset heading north and a cell to the south of London. These are explosive cells and I would expect them to tap into the moisture and develop significantly. Still 21C here and very humid.

Make that 4 cells south of London

There seems to be some very ott terms being used here so far, "exploding" and "super cells" .... radar would somewhat contradict this at present. I can understand the excitement but we are not seeing a widescale breakdown at present.

to much bbc news I suspect ..

I think real time lightning is as there are lots of strikes just on and off the south coast showing.

Looks like you won't need to move from your position as those south coast storms are tracking right this way. I'll head to the Peaks for a nice view south should they survive the 200+ mile trip up north, which is easily possible if they turn supercellular.

Okay, I thought I saw lightning earlier and was losing it - but I DEFINITELY slaw a flash just then.

Unlike you to be overoptimistic Pit. The night is still young I'd say.  :hi:
