The biggest Q is over the Meto imo.

Not a drop of rain all day, let alone a storm.

Last night's forecast defo said thundery downpours on and off all day.

There have been some v poor daily forecasts the last few weeks.

What a shame. The south west has missed out again. Oh well, better luck next time.

Maybe something for the South Coast/Cornwall early hours of the morning?

This week has been a particularly abysmal week for 'Dougal's' BBC daily forecasts for this area:

Tuesday - Forecast: Sunny and Dry; Actual - Rain

Wednesday - Forecast: Sunny and Dry; Actual - Overcast

Thursday - Forecast: Heavy Rain and Storms; Actual - Mostly Dry, some Light Rain

next up:

Friday - Forecast: Heavy Rain and Storms; Actual - ???

Having only had a mere 0.5mm yesterday and now viewing the radar I am thinking today could be a day to challenge the total from the very wet Friday 3 weeks ago.

Thinking the same Andy. May also be the last rain for a while - a possible case of most of August's rain comes in one day. 8mm so far and the front is really hanging around but expecting a clearance 2pm ish onwards.

We are really getting our just desserts for yesterday's 0.4mm!  There's no breeze to move it along and an early afternoon clearance is looking a tad optimistic at the moment.

Moderate rain for the commute down the M5 today. More shocking though was the number of idiots with no lights on at all despite the heavy spray  :nonono:

Looking at the radar it could still be here at home time...

11.4mm to 09.00GMT, thought it might be more as the radar shows it started here around 02.30 this morning and hasn't bothered to stop since.  May well find the same again before the system clears.

heavy rain really getting its act together through Somerset, Dorset and into Wilts in the past hour...a broad area of bright echo returns and very slow moving...This has the potential for some surface flooding over the next few hours

Still raining, nearly 12 hours after it started.  It just got stuck and all it's done is shrink!

Looks like the clocks have changed its that dark outside, I did find a spell where it wasnt raining at lunchtime to go to the sandwich shop but I could feel spots on the walk back to the office. As Lyn says its been raining all day near enough this band has just stopped over us.

Final total for the system is 20.5mm and the rain stopped about ten minutes ago.  Definitely a feel of autumn out there, thank goodness the forecast is more optimistic for the next few days.

I haven't checked my gauge but it has been incessant since around 4am although fairly light for a few hours, however recently a real downpour has developed within the back edge (red on the radar) and it has been torrential for 10 minutes which will have increased the mm by quite a few.

It must be an embedded cell developing as the darkness has got very dusky after it was reasonably bright earlier.

Rain only came to 12mm yesterday so not a patch on July 24th.

Lovely start so far today though. Hope it doesn't cloud over this afternoon.
