well its snowing and lying back in my native Tyneside at the moment which shows if the winds are offshore then the air is cold enough for it to fall as snow, I think inland parts and the further East you are is the best chance to see and experience lying snow.

I got a feeling I'm too near the coast even if the winds veer around to a more Northerly and I might be too far West but I won't be losing too much sleep over it mind either way.

Heavy snow and wind. Hopefully will stick, so I can take my dogs out in the morning.

Hell it feels cold this morning in that wind and only 1.3c, assuming no ppn overnight as the ground is dry but not looked back over the radar from overnight. Certainly feels like winter has arrived....  :cold:

Had a light snow shower around 8pm. Couldn't tell you what happened after that. I went the pub, haha.

A covering of snow here first thing, a couple of cm probably although I've been out in the car and lower down in Rochdale there is nothing.

It's nice to the see the tops with the crisp outlines that only snow cover and clear skies can give and certainly a change from the mild wet muck of the last couple of weeks.

Not sure much snow fell here overnight, there only appears to be the remains of the wet sleet showers we got earlier in the evening. Looking back on the radar shows some precipitation falling but mostly out to the east

On the flipside what a gloriously crisp, cold sunny day ahead.

2cms of frozen snow remaining of the 3cms that fell between 1am-2am, it was quite a scene outside last night, great stuff!

Crisp breezy morning after the non event ...

We had a covering of snow but the wind was a non event here.

i had a look outside at 2am and it was just moderate rain/sleet, even the fells near me about 300M have zero snow.

That's surprising as it's usually ourselves who need substantial altitude while it settles on lower ground up in Cumbria.

That said though the ground is still quite warm and yourselves have had a lot of rain which won't help.

What we all need is a few ice days to cool the surfaces but it's not looking likely, at least in the short term.

Climbed up to 2.6c under clear blue skies, wind easing but still feels bitter.
