The sleety wet snow turned to rain quite quickly, most surfaces are now wet. However, fairly low ground around 200m mark is covered in snow.  Was hoping for a bright crisp day tomorrow with the fells etched white against bright blue skies, alas the rain/snow looks like coming back by early afternoon.. can't we just have one nice day here. This is turning into one of the most miserable 6 week periods on record here.

Been really heavy rain here now for last 2 hours, and looks like its going to be a lot longer as looks like its stalled and set up camp over us. Thankfully its out of the areas worst hit last week, but its still bad. One of our neighbours has flooded again already and the way this is going they are not going to be the only one - the perils of living near a main stream on the Pennines. Thankfully we should be safe, we just get to look upon all our neighbours troubles.

Hmmm.. Wonder if I could get a frost tonight, it's 2.0c the sun is setting and the skies are clearing, won't hold my breath though!

Temperature still rising here. Currently double the December average at 14c, just 70 miles away in Leeds it's 1c. Crazy gradient.

Promising signs of a quick clearance from the West.... still thoroughly miserable here with heavy persistent rain, but I don't think it will be too long before it clears eastwards.

Seem to be stuck at 1.5c... Be a right mess if all this water freezes up! Getting close..

FYI. Colne area gauges have been recording their highest ever totals, resulting in significant flooding see - http://www.pendletoday.co.uk/news/residents-warned-as-river-at-record-high-level-in-barrowford-1-7621095

Its been a very bad day for this part of the Pennines.

Hebden Bridge flooding, for the 3rd time in recent years.

daughter set off from Bacup to her boyfriends in Halifax but was turned back at Hebden Bridge and looking at that it's a good job she was otherwise I'd have had a pretty damp car by now.

Ended up going the long way round on the M62 instead.

M66 north of Bury completely closed by flooding for much of this evening.

at least it's a Saturday so traffic is lighter but the stretch in question is notorious for water run off from the fields and with saturated ground as well as it being an unlit road, probably just to dangerous to keep open even if water  isn't to deep.
