Heavy rain here since late afternoon but gradually turning more and more sleety although not settling.

frustratingly though the temperature which fell to 1.8c has risen slightly again to 2c, so until the proper colder air sinks south later in the night, it looks like rain rather than snow.

I doubt Merseyside will, priciply because the air will be too heavily modified by the seaward wind in an already marginal situation. However, greater Manchester is a good bet, and the hills of North Wales.

Hope for us on the coast!! Might actually see wet snow falling lol

Next few days in Tenerife it is going to be a scorching 30C!! 8)Ouch I've got sun burn too!!  It would be a very shock to my system when I'm going home in freezing weather.

Yeah, looking at the radar you're sat under some orange/red ppn rates.

Light rain on and off but despite no evaporative cooling, the temp is on a downward trend. Currently 3.7°C (-0.5°C/H).

Hopeful for the early hours and if not then tomorrow night.

Sounds exactly like the rotten muck we had last night....when it stopped, roads flooded all over, fields waterlogged and muddy.

As cold spells go, this one is a heap of dog eggs.

Well dogs don't lay eggs for a start.

Secondly, the cold spell hasn't even started yet? Chill your beans.

What is concerning is that when the frost comes all of this water everywhere will freeze over!! Could be dangerous, they can grit the roads but all the water running out of the fields etc will wash it away.

My local forecast for morning on met office website saying rain not even sleet. It's gone from snow to sleet and now rain. Pretty much been downgraded the closer we've got to tomorrow. Will probably be bone dry on next update

Those forecasts are generated by raw model output. Pay attention to their text forecasts. The automated ones are generally useful for cloud amounts. But rubbish for PPN type.

Yes their "symbol" forecasts are not always spot on. Just it would be more encouraging to show snow or sleet rather than plain old rain.

Met Office app shows heavy rain and a minimum of 2c overnight here, it's 2.6c and raining heavy so pretty much spot on so far!

Every now and again I'm seeing sleety bits on the conservatory roof. Definitely cooling down.
