The centre of the low should soon be arriving over NW England so the winds could fall even lighter which may help things for those at more lower levels and plus the colder air should slowly come a bit further southwards also but whether there be any PPN by then is another matter.

Raining here now and you can see its trying to produce some sort of sleet but not at the moment!

Met office says heavy PPN till 4am. Can't see where that's coming from?

Its one of those PPN masses where its going to be hard to know what it will do, just keep an eye on the radar and see what happens. The low is slow moving and PPN will be near by but it could very much be a bit hit and miss I feel.

dry here at the moment but the next band, whatever it is, should be arriving very soon.

Precipitation has pepped up past half or so but still just rain.. confident still any heavier stuff will bring snow.. fingers crossed I awake to some of the white stuff. Interest is in tomorrow evening and Friday morning, convective showers off the Irish Sea - could bring some very heavy spells of snow.. its a synoptic not too dissimiliar to 20/21 Dec 2009 which delivered thundersnow here. A great snow event..

absolute pasting of snow for an hour or so here int north lakes

huge giant fat double 50p sized flakes at a rate of torrential rain

stopped now but lets hope there's much more to come and the very healthy cover of snow survives!

Where abouts are you. We just have rain here.. hoping we get some once the front moves through in the morning. Odd how Ambleside managed a decent cover in more marginal conditions to what we have now - I guess its down to the fact we have yet to see any intense precipitation.
