Shame you can't get there from here without going via st Petersburg..

Yep getting around Cumbria at the moment is a nightmare! What with Pooley bridge a pile of rubble, Eamont bridge shut and A591 missing a section. Victoria bridge in Kendal completely closed today, traffic is mental round there, can't even nip around the back roads to the North due to bridges in Staveley  and Burneside also shut. There's a fair bit of repairing to be done!

Two inches of snow here now but starting to melt, plenty more showers piling  so should add to that overnight.

What we should be most annoyed about is that the showers forecast for tomorrow night are all piling into North Wales in the cold air. We're getting the rain now when it's not cold enough.

Happens all the time, this region is probably the most frustrating in the whole uk when it comes to snow

I've seen this before, the isobar and wind directions on the BBC throw winds right into NW England, but they Put showers our west. I think there'll be a shift east on this, especially with the direction the wind is expected!

heavy rain at 102m asl further north. Carl do you think Castell Dinas Bran will be getting good snow by now? I think so judging by your info.

Possible...temperature dropped to 2.5c now with big flakes mixed in with the rain (50/50)...evap cooling beginning to have an effect?

Surely this very heavy stuff moving into the region now should have a wintry element!

Yes precipitation is much heavier than it was, and colder air is starting to make inroads, so it could well be some evaporative cooling process taking place.

Rain drops starting to get bigger here now, still rain no hint of ice yet, but bigger raindrops are a sign precipitation has melted not far above.

Second band of rain looks more potent, showing as sleet/snow over higher parts of North Wales, still mostly rain after crossing the Welsh/English border.

Yes I noticed that, really big drops here like melted snow flakes.
