Just been out in the car, flooding everywhere and still chucking it down, horrid, awful day! This winter really has been a shocker, never thought I'd see a winter so much like 2013-14 so soon.

Wonder how much snow we'd have on the ground if today's front had moved into embedded deep cold and given us a day of snow and gale force southerlies?

I'm still hanging on to that thought, we still have a month....Lets pray we have a March 2013.

But the thought of ice days now are well and truly out of the window for this winter :hi:

Well assuming 19mm here also (think we've had more myself in my locale) then apparently you can apply a 10:1 snow to rain ratio at 32f, 19mm = 0.75 inches to I make it 7.5 inches of snow or about 20cms? The ratio apparently increases significantly if the temperature is below 32f.

Edited by Gustywind
Edit: just been on website for local weather station and we've actually had 34mm here, so that's actually about 12 inches or a foot of snow! If only!

Apparently i hear if it gets cold enough rain turns to snow...The ratio of that happening so far this winter is a big fat :cray:

Well folks I personally don't hold much hope for next 3weeks of winter for anything cold I mean sustain cold and over the last 2-3days the met backed away from the cold drum they were banging for mid feb. Looks like the N.E U.S is about to go in to the freezer again by the end of next week makes me sick to see all that cold heading their way if I could afford it I would get on a plain and go over there. Few Folks were getting excited about some snow by the end of next week but as usial it would be the usial places like Scotland and higher parts of northern england that see any meaningful snow. I'm sure Scotland saw snow even during winter of 88-89. No I give up on this jaffa cakes take of a winter bring on spring I do hope I'm wrong and we from the midlands south get a surprise or 2.

Temps here now at 5c, with the winds picking up it's making it feel even colder.

The models are showing interesting times ahead for this forthcoming week and into next weekend.

Love the fact that the jet is showing it's self to be further and further south of the UK :)

Still keeping an eye on that little channel low for Tues Morning wouldn't take much for that to be 50 miles further north

and with DP's on the negative side + 850hpa's at -5 -6's, maybe SNOW....... just keeping the faith that's all guys :D:cold:
