Yeah!! Have they changed the sign, on the Edinburgh ring-road, yet - the one that led to 'Penikwik'?:D

Yep, not looking good at the moment.

You think? Last night you did not even know whether ppn would get to your position or if it'd be stalled south of us both, that is looking good to me now, Let temperature just drop away decimal after decimal...

PD. Back to drizzly mush, temp at 1.1 now dp 0.3, so dipping ever so further down.

Sorry about that Catch, hope the roads aren't too bad tomorrow.

Sort of sleety drizzle here in Edinburgh, should be snow with any real intensity:

Whole thing seems to have gone a wee bit further north than expected LS. Not expecting anything at all street-level in central-Edinburgh but higher parts of town might catch a bit on the back-edge once it all starts sliding south and east  ?

PS Sorry to hear about your mum Catch, all the best to you and to Blitzen also.

Sadly, for my back yard, this is going as well as I feared.

Same here at the moment. Going out soon so ever hopeful it might change?

Proper snowing here, everything white.

If we had street lights that's roughly what it would look like here too. I feel a late evening dark snowy dog walk coming on :)

My best to Catch and Bltzen.

1.2c and dry here on the Fife Riviera.

Quick word about snow lying on wet roads and pavements....snow will start to accumulate so long as the wet bulb temp is at 0c or below, regardless of how wet the road is (obviously not on standing water!). It won't accumulate on dry ground if the wet bulb temp is above 0c. (At least that's my understanding!)

Sorry to hear of your sad news catch, I hope everything is ok for tomorrow .

Nothing here, some light snow earlier but everything seems to have missed here.

Back to 1.3 unfortunately, but ppn denser now. Amazing how these four ppn bands we have had affecting scotland have been quite difficult to forecast.

Thoughts to Blitzen and Catch.

Proper snow here, has been on for a good hour now and is starting to settle. SBC have cancelled all school clubs tonight and have already said that school transport will not run tomorrow. Also possible school closures depending, to be updated at 6.30am tomorrow. T is 0.7c

Heavy snaw here. About 1 cm already.

Was like that pretty much from Soutra to Lauder. Lying on the roads; Soutra will be getting hairy.

My statement was based solely on looking out of the window (I'm a total weather novice, have only just discovered the rain radar) not on any interpretation of charts.

Didn't mean to sound like a doom merchant. Still holding out for some snow for my birthday.

Thoughts go out to you, and your families both Catch and Blitzen at a diificult time. Hope the weather provides a soothing setting and causes no extra hassles.

3.5C according to the car on the edge of Edinburgh quickly dropped along the M 8 corridor with some elevation, steady rain has just recently turned to snow as it got heavier and a decent pulse came through. Not Narnia here yet, but hopeful somewhere will be - good luck folks !

Does @Hairy Celt know about this? When is he arriving?

Saw your weather article on   Walkhighlands . Excellent reading.

Fabulous day here too to with a nice winter sunset.   Great to be  out and about with ground freezing up rapidly tonight as I have just come in from shifting electric fence for cows turnips tomorrow. Currently -1c

Cheers NL :) I got wetter getting some of those photos in the space of 20 minutes than I have done in whole days on rain-sodden hills. Glad that's behind us.......at least for now. What a turnaround though eh? You must be glad of the ground freezing. The farm at work were on the point of despair at how much mud was getting churned up in the fields.

0.7C here with dandruff slowly slowly slowly accumulating. It'll take a week to get an inch but......it's snow!

Bone dry up here...  A very light dusting from last night has stuck around all day but that didn't affect many places around here anyway.

Outlook is chilly...
