Overcast from late morning onwards was looking forward to a sunny late winters day! Temp up to 4.8c this afternoon, expect it would've been higher if the sun was out all day. No frost tonight unless the cloud clears but doubtful as its quite extensive looking at the satellite.

As was the case yesterday, the shaded part of the drive still has a very slight covering of snow from the previous evenings showers although this has probably been helped by the lack of sunshine this afternoon.

at least it's looking mainly dry for the next few days although the expected easterly will do doubt make it feel cold out of the sun.

makes a change from mild must though.

We've actually got a light dusting of hailstones now.

Cold day, harsh frost to wake up, temps were around -5 degrees, cloud rolled in late morning, meaning temps struggled to get above 4 degrees. Cloud persisted through the afternoon and evening, still cloudy now, skies should clear later tonight so another air frost likely though not as cold. A good run of air frosts are being clocked up..

No frost last night with all the cloud cover, lowest temp 2.8c. Still overcast now with a temp of 5.3c, at least it's dry!

Three sunny days brought to a halt today as we are back to a grey & cold theme.  A trade-off for missing the 'wet' weather is that it can sometimes be dull & benign with not much going on.  Normally that would irritate me, but after recent deluges, it's something most of us would settle for.

Yeah even cloudy cold and dry is a massive improvement on the cloudy mild and wet muck we seem to have been stuck  under since November last year.

looks like it is back to the default setting next week though so it's very much a case of wrapping up well and enjoying the weekend's bitter wind.

Cloud cleared yesterday evening so a colder night than the last, currently -0.8c but with little frost as the air is dry with low dew points.  Hopefully it'll stay sunny all day.

Scraped the ice of the car windscreen again this morning,  fourth day in five now and we've had more frosts in the last two weeks than the rest of the winter combined so although hardly a classic cold spell, it's certainly more seasonal than much of the winter has been.

for me though the main thing has been the fact it is dry.

Again I missed out on an air frost! Min   1.8°C.

It was fairly bright this morning, although not as sunny as previous days.... then it clouded over and it's become overcast... even had a bit of snizzle (drizzle sleet!) earlier and I was beside myself with a wintry joy of expectation!....I was about to don my woolly hat, scarf and mittens in a flashback to the 80's!..but then it stopped as though it knew it was deviating from it's modern-era script and now it's just grey, cold but at least it's dry.

Just been out in the car and there were a few spots of something on the windscreen but that's all it ended up as.

even a bit of brightness trying to come though although pretty well wall to wall cloud.

one thing that is noticeable though is the lack of the "bitter" easterly that the forecasters have been bigging up for the last few days although maybe we are a bit to far north to feel the effects of it.

all in all, could be much worse.

Disappointingly cloudy afternoon after a frosty start with sunshine. Max temp only 5.0c without the sun, still overcast now and 3.8c.

Another sub zero minimum but, unlike previous days this week, little frost on the cars this morning.
