Morning all, it's a rather nippy -5.1c here :cold:

I am glad of double glazing and central heating but there's a bit of me that really would like to pull back my curtains and see ferns on the panes, mornings like this would have guaranteed it when I was a kid. Miss those patterns.

Me too, those days where the ice was thick on the inside of the windows and would take sometime to clear, and you'd be able to breath clear circles on to the glass to look outside. Guess I'm lucky to have experienced those days of cold. My grandkids love it when the ground has a covering a frost, my how times have changed.

Sorry reminiscence switched off..

I remember those days! We used to live in an old farmhouse with no heating upstairs and single glazing and waking up with ice on the windows was standard in winter - the good old days!

So... seems like the garden path has been abandoned this morning judging by the lack of posts and doom in the MOD thread  :sorry:

Yes, another MOD thread lead scenario, that appears to be be winding down. There is clearly some colder air around, but not (as determined by the thread explosive in nature, cite KAAABOOOM as posted a couple of times!).Consistency from knocker does run true..

That takes me back

So the pendulum swings back to a frosty start. Rather chilly first thing, the temperature must have dropped rapidly overnight as it wasn't too bad at 10pm.

On reflection...I'd rather wake up and see my garden looking like this again.....will we ever get another February 2009?

Benson @ -7C..

-7.8 now. Bored of being cold! Sorry those of you who want some frost, but I have to walk a km on an untreated country lane over an awful bridge to get to work. Looking forward to not being afraid of falling a over t!

Well I've got an enforced day off, my poor old Landy suggested I was 'havin a larf' when I tried to start it; every turn of the key resulted in lower and lower groaning before it stuck one finger up and told me to sod off. Shame really, it's a lovely day out there.

Beautiful sunny day here now. Air temp hovering around freezimg but feeling quite pleasant unlike yesterday which, though warmer, had a bitter breeze. I even managed to negotiate the icy bridge( it's in shade all day so is always a nasty spot!). Wearing more layers than an arctic explorer though! :D

It looks like it may dip below freezing here tonight/just after midnight, before the cloud encroaches - that'll make 16 frost days so far. :)
