It has been warmer on Christmas Day and New Year's Day that's for sure 😭

I'd rather have this than last years 'dragons breath' weather. I hate heat. Last week was nice, sunny but northerly keeping temperatures down. Not a fan of the all over grey weather, but better than too hot for me.

I can remember years growing up in the 60s and 70s when we never even got to 30c in London where I lived at the time with my parents. Last year was my worst nightmare, 29c at the coast... On a more serious note whilst the talk is of 1.5c warming I would estimate that maximum summer temperatures have risen by more like 4c over the last 50 odd years

Well John Holmes was right and it didn't burn off here. A cold day as well at 13C. This problem could be with us for a while yet as well.

I went up yesterday morning they had put the majority of it out the media sensationalised it as usual claiming it was Lady Canning Plantation and for those who know the area many will refer to the woods full of pine trees as LCP and from the reports they made it sound like it was the actual woods that had gone up.

But in reality it was the heather above LCP that had caught fire near to Ox Stones that spread across the moorland.

I think it is only by luck we had a cool easterly wind and cool tempretures and the wind direction pushing the fire away from the plantation.

Had the wind been westerly and had we had the heat we had last summer the whole wood could have gone.

Thankfully the damage is far less severe than it could have been.

Another cool grey day here, wind N force 4, temperature 12c, all over featureless grey cloud with a few damp spells with drizzle, enough to wet the ground but no more. Smelt a wood fire when cycling through the village so someone is feeling chilly

The north sea cloud relented here thankfully and got a very nice day. Forecast suggests it will be  a problem again from Monday night.

Well the North sea cloud a brief unwanted guess this morning but went very quickly.

Sun came out mid morning but now back to full cloud- more so than forecasted. Satellite shows it affecting most of Yorkshire and parts of the NE. Full sunshine 30 miles down the road. Hopefully it breaks up later in the day..

I’m not optimistic myself, think the next few days will be very frustrating for us. No idea why the strong June sun can’t burn off the cloud.

So far much better than yesterday - patchy cloud at the moment.

Cloud all day and a few spots of rain in the morning. A rubbish day to be polite about it.

100% cloud cover and still a chilly breeze here in Penistone. We had about 90 minutes of sun last night, then it clouded over again.

Let's hope the cloud breaks and it starts to warm up a bit

Hope everyone else is enjoying warmth and sunshine!

Cloud cleared up nicely today inland..about flippin time too. Looking at this satellite loop cloud in the North Sea looks to be very thin, if not a lot drier air as well.  So hopefully if it does move inland again tonight it should break dead quick tomorrow morning.. hope the east coast gets to enjoy some decent sunny spells as well. Looking forward to a warm/Very warm weekend now.

Here in Bridlington temperatures have been around 13c by day for much of the last 2 weeks solid !

Seeing all the beautiful clear blue skies around the country we have definitely been mugged off on the east coast this May and first week in June.

Bournemouth 25c today , yet a ridiculous 13c here - truly laughable !

Perhaps it can reach 17c on the east coast this weekend 🥳

Another mild winter's day in Bridlington, as that's basically been it for 2+ weeks now.

Hopefully we will see 17 or 18c this weekend and better still 20c .

A very poor show really .

Cloud cleared away here before lunch time but despite the sun temps peaked just under 19C. This weekend should be a shock to the system with temps up to 26C.

Even had friends messaging me from Ireland telling me it's like being in the Mediterranean there over the last 3 weeks.

Meanwhile it's been damn cold on the east coast of England persistently 🙄🤬
