Hold up forget Wednesday and Thursday what is this regional forecast for tonight?!

I know it talks about snow "mainly on the hills" but I didn't realise it was even marginal tonight?

-5c with snow cover?  Interesting.....

Saw that earlier and made me wonder where this is coming from...  In the text it states min temp of -5c, yet the app symbols and temp show rain and 7c for my location! ??‍♂️

Arpege looking interesting on Thursday for Yorkshire, and not necessarily just higher ground.

Maybe METO is playing it safe this time after last week's disaster? Yes it was localised but still 20-30cm was a major event. Wed-Thu wherever ppn falls as snow it will be heavy with large flakes and accumulation per hour will be significant imo.

It's 7C now but it doesn't feel that mild and this is a good sign. Temp will drop overnight today, it will be cold tomorrow even with a hazy winter sunshine so fingers crossed we might have some nice surprises come Wednesday. Really hope the places that didn't do well last time will come into the snow game this time. Do not forget also that in FI we might get some major snow events according to the latest runs.

The snow cover will be existing cover, probably most likely the Dales and high ground west of Harrogate where there will still be some. Will get cold there later in night as cold air filters south.

In fairness to the Met Office the BBC and GFS do agree on temperatures of 0-4C during the event highlighting how marginal it is.

There have been many occasions when you travel up the M1 and it turns to snow north of Sheffield.

ARPEGE 12z gives 25-30cm for most of West Yorkshire the System that moves across Wednesday & Thursday,  Fridays accumulations look interesting..

Also looks very interesting for all our region away from the coasts.

GFS struggling to come out one thing I notice don the 06oz run for late evening and overnight Wednesday is a big chance of freezing rain. Hopefully that will be gone on tonight's run if not I'll change my shopping day to Wednesday morning.  Cold uppers dig in during Thursday.

I’m not to sure it’s a BANK as yet although I want it to be, however worth keeping an eye on it as it’s very marginal but we could end up been on the right side of it, but let’s see

One thing I noticed this morning was the reluctance to go much further than Tuesday in the forecasts this morning.

Wed 13th looking interesting for high ground. Expecting sleet at lower levels but could see some wet snow for a time before returning to rain

Elevation the winner again??

Always will be but a lot of cold in the mix which may upgrade as it encroaches from the East. Scott will have a better handle on that.
