Hello everyone, hope you are all keeping well. Bit cooler on it this past couple of days so has prompted me to come out of hibernation again! Hopefully we will get rid of all the mild muck for the next few month, I still have roses blooming which is a first for me so late in the year 🤯

Aye. Been a miserable wet and warm Autumn. Still cutting the grass yet.

Can't say I'm hopeful for any snow soon. Hopefully Christmas will deliver!

Aye mine could do with a cut but decided against to stop the moss growing and to give the insects a place to hid over the winter!

First proper air & grass frost for my location this autumn

We had a little on top of the cars, that was about it.

November almost certain to go by without a proper widespread ground frost.

We had a good frost overnight Friday with ice in places.

Found this out the hard walking across the decking. I'd like to paint an image of a gazelle on the Serengeti but it was more like a hippo on an ice rink.

Good to see the faithful gathering for the winter.

Bit of excitement  building  in the model  thread about a potential  cool down  early December...

Well, it could hardly get warmer!

I remain to be convinced up any significant cold spell, particularly one with snow.

I'll be glad if it stops raining for a week or two.

Lots of excitement on the MT, pleasingly for my own selfish reasons it looks like we are in for a dry spell from the 5th

That's all I see.

Any potential snow or widespread deep frost weeks away at best.

As you say, bring on some dry weather.

Cold and dry for a while is a good way of priming the atmosphere for something more traditional later hopefully.

Winter could be on its way, could we see a repeat of 2010 when Eyjafjallajökull blew its head off & likewise Hunga Tonga–Hunga Haʻapai blew its head off early this year.

Here's hoping.  Still a long way to go yet.

How much of fall did you get 2010 also where is @Sperrin

An absolute pile on the 16th through to the 19th. About 2 foot in total.

I'm sure Sperrin will turn up when the sna does.

There were two spells in December 2010 were I got 6-12 inches of snow. The first spell was from 26th November until 9th December and a good 6-12 inches fell on 6th December. The second spell was 16th December until 27th December with the deep snowfall occurring right at the start of this spell with regular top ups throughout.

anything close to those would be amazing…..
