Wet and warm looks likely in the coming days… some rather warm overnight minimums in particular at the beginning of the week.

Maybe a little bit reminiscent of August 2004 this spell coming up? I remember that quite well constant torrential rain for days

Remember that quite well. It was a fairly warm and sunny weekend. By the Sunday evening a band of heavy and Thundery Rain made it’s way into Western Scotland. It seem to stall taking it’s time as I was working through in the East it wasn’t until the following afternoon by the time rain got there and was still Thundery in places. Some places just got a drenching while others got proper flooding as this rain band appeared to last a number of days brining heavy and persistent rain. That summer was a poor one. It did have a number of warm days but it was a weekly occurrence during that August that we had Thunder.

Ground really parched here with the strong southerly of the last few days no water coming out of any of the drains now and soil surface just talcum powder.

A field of big square bales of straw were burnt yesterday in the strong wind.Fire moved across stubble from bale to bale up a steep hill.  20220903_114720.thumb.jpg.5cca7048b7dda78aa475d880860abe8f.jpg

Delighted to get storm  damage  on the roofs from last winter  sorted in the last week before the change in the weather thats forecast.

Currently 21c with a fresh southerly wind and RH of 25%

Certainly heavy here now and coming in almost horizontally in the strong gusty East wind. Not cold though at 16.6C just now.

So that’s the northbound carriageway wet and the southbound dry.

I drove down the M74 this morning and that actually seemed to be the case…

After a grey start, the afternoon saw a lot of very hazy sunshine.

Not at all cold, with a max of 19c and light to moderate winds.

Perfect weather for the Scottish Cycling Criterium Championship Race in Aberdeen with a decent crowd as well...

A utterly awful forecast for the Tour of Britain grand depart from the city centre later this morning, complete with Met Office weather warning for the whole route.  You feel sorry for the organisers, especially considering the lack of rain over the last few months.

As above, hope the Tour of Britain riders have good waterproofs as its heaving it down here, and blustery with it.

Estimated around 13:15 they pass our house. If the rain has eased I'll stand outside and wave to you all watching on ITV4.

Update: Well race underway, but no TV coverage yet due to the weather. Apparently the TV compound is at the finish at Glenshee, which is too windy to put up the masts they need to recieve/transmit the pictures. Glenshee, windy, never. Did no one think of checking how frequently that is the case, even in September?

Tour of Britain leaders coming down Sui Hill past my house top center. It had just about stopped raining by then.

UKV showing the potential for some torrential outbreaks of rain in the early hours with temps a tropical (for us) 17c.

Further downpours likely over the next few days but the Meto have dropped all mention of storms for here.

Also, despite a decent downpour late last night I suspect we had more rain from the band this morning than through the whole time of the weather warning yesterday!

Ukv seeing a busy night and the weather on itv said "we might see a weather warning issued for this shortly" Screenshot_20220904_165022_Chrome.thumb.jpg.374e4bd1c645ccf0f42f7f5803eca18a.jpgScreenshot_20220904_165027_Chrome.thumb.jpg.7936f8f2f59b689180baaf650006e20e.jpgScreenshot_20220904_165032_Chrome.thumb.jpg.994198dcbef8f9d939ca85a0f0113bab.jpg @Ross B on the same page 😀⛈️

A utterly miserable morning with steady heavy rain and a strong SE wind - the only saving grace being how mild it is.

Overnight low of 14c (!) and a max of 16c in the late afternoon.

That max coinciding with the clearance of the rain after 2pm and the occasional appearance of the sun.

A real shame the weather was so awful in the morning/early afternoon, the global audience for the Tour of Britain not getting to see the countryside at its best.

Irrespective of the rain, still a decent crowd watching it come through Alford - the coordination of the cavalcade is impressive when you see it in action.

Miserable grey start to the week, not cold by any means, and still yet to have touched the heating controls.

In my seemingly never ending search for snawmagedon i have a viewing on a house in Alford next week.. well not in Alford but the surrounding area.. having googled the postcode its coming up at 280m asl.. so that should just about do it..🤞🤞

Yep, that should do pretty well. We have friends at ~300m in Cushnie just to the South of Alford and they do noticeably better than here, especially in more marginal conditions as you would expect.

Cushnie is where the house im looking at is, so maybe i underestimated the altitude a bit.. make a big difference them 20m..

A bit of rain overnight but cleared this morning to mostly blue skies and a fresh southerly wind which although very  humid is now drying the ground up again. Reached 24c a few hours ago.

Permagloom morning with some outbreaks of rain.

Bright and dry afternoon with a fresh easterly wind.

Warm for the time of year with another double digit overnight low of 15c and a high today of 19.2c.

Warm over in western canada as well, relatives there commenting it's abnormally warm just now with temperatures around 30c.
