Supposed to be doing the three shires head walk from Gradbach tomorrow morning, what are conditions like over there?

Surely a thaw at 300+ tomorrow! not full thaw mind you

Steady snow falling and accumulating once more, adding to the existing cover.

Where abouts in Derby are you please?

This really is quite unexpected, steady snow still falling and accumulating. Roads are covered. Not sure if its snowing down in town?

Birmingham almost always misses out on any snow events (pretty much any interesting weather event actually) and I wouldn't be at all surprised if this time round is no exception. BBC Weather has us down for some light snow tomorrow evening, but I'll believe it when I see it.

For once, we actually did quite well this time round. 🙂

Regarding Tuesdays potential streamer and snowfall

The Met office are showing a little development over Ireland at 3pm that could make its way over to us later and into the evening 🤞🤞🤞

Depths here were equal to early Mar 2018 and Jan 2021, last time it was deeper was Dec 2017.

This extended winter reminds me a lot of 2005-6; that also had a cold snap in December with very little snow, a brief dusting in Jan, was often fairly cold but boring, dry and cloudy- until March saved it with that snowfall on the 12th. 1994-5 also saw March rescue a disappointing winter (although that one was much wetter).

Big snowfall in first half of March= decent summer? 1995, 2006, 2018.... and 2023?

I narrowly missed the snowfalls in March 1995, with areas 10 miles or so to my west/north west having a reasonable fall on the 2nd.  I did have some snow later in the month, but it didn't settle.  Similar to earlier in the month, other areas did have settling snow.

It was a similar story in March 2001 and 2006, so failed to save the day so to speak!

Surprising how the river severn is bank full..

This snow has done just the job to soak into the ground bring that clean water back..

Still plenty of snow drifts and more still scattered around

Lawn is 70% snowcover yet..

Aye. Such a contrast to most of this week. I don’t like it 😅 I like either proper cold or proper heat. Not the mediocre in between!

Quite liking the latest ICON update. Shows the back edge snow Tuesday morning, Cheshire Gap streamer during Tuesday (It doesn’t normally pick up on convention so it’s interesting that it shows this), and a little feature bringing snow Tuesday night. We really need snowfall at night for it to settle at this time of year.
