I don’t really get that desperate need people have for warmth in early spring. Aside from people who hate the cold, of course. We’ve many months of ahead for warmth whereas the window for cold and snow is small.

ICON gives a decent dollop of snow this evening/early tonight before the mild air takes over.

I don't mind a cold March. Time flies with snow and before you know it, it's April and then high pressure over the UK starts bringing some warmth. Can't stand cold Aprils though.

The right type of cold in April can be convective fun ⛈️

Lol, been here all the time but very busy with work this week, so not had much time to post.  That said, made time to enjoy the snow lol!!  Here are some more photos from this morning and this evening.  It would seem the Shropshire snow dome has been at least temporarily lifted?!!  I'm guessing this has been the biggest fall of snow for this area since the BFTE or December 2017?

Depths here were equal to early Mar 2018 and Jan 2021, last time it was deeper was Dec 2017.

This extended winter reminds me a lot of 2005-6; that also had a cold snap in December with very little snow, a brief dusting in Jan, was often fairly cold but boring, dry and cloudy- until March saved it with that snowfall on the 12th. 1994-5 also saw March rescue a disappointing winter (although that one was much wetter).

Big snowfall in first half of March= decent summer? 1995, 2006, 2018.... and 2023?

Bit more of a thaw today, managed to get out of the lane in the 4x4 to do a food shop as the drift have been cleared but still treacherous. Looking at the radar snow is not far away from here..

There is still a good cover in the shade and on some rooftops. Let’s hope we get another dose tonight to top it up before mild air comes in.

Pouring with rain. Or maybe sleet. Hard to tell. Cold spell ending with a wimper.

Edit: Definitely sleet.

Can confirm light rain coming into Brum, from the stronger radar echoes

Pretty sure the mild air is here .. for now🙂

Interestingly some sleety blobs mixed in with the rain in Solihull now. (Some landed on my arm in icy bits).

Tuesday though does look interesting.
