Saturday doesn't look good. That wasn't my point.

As Saturday hasn't happened yet.

When  “ Saturday doesn’t look good “ and hasn’t happened yet ?

that’s what is generally know as forecasting….it hasn’t happened as yet 🤭

Blimey this wasn't supposed to be this difficult.

I came here to say the models looked bad for this week, we've had 2 good days out of 3, tomorrow looks fine too. That was all.

Oh! Neil…I’m not one for Judging one’s thoughts….that’s never me, I apologise if you’ve taken it that way 🥴

I’m with ya….this weeks forecast at the start of the week wasn’t to promising at all….but it hasn’t been to bad at all, as the weeks gone on that is, especially regarding rainfall 😉

Anyway I’m chilling and nothing is to difficult in my eyes 🤭

So after a surprisingly decent day yesterday, it's back to the usual today. As for Saturday, it's looking to be an exceptionally dire day - 16C and persistent rain all day.

Sadly I think that's coming to pass. Currently 12.5 °C and it hasn't stopped raining since I woke up an hour and a bit ago. The radar looks dismal, even worse than the MetO forecast last night. Annoyingly I have to go out somewhere today (and for various reasons this can't be postponed/cancelled) so I'm expecting to be heavily reliant on not only an umbrella but even a coat. In the middle of July... 🤕

I'm not sure what's happened to the moaning thread (has it been rolled into the general Summer chat one? I've been away from NW for a while) but if it was around I think today's weather would be very much on topic for that!

Yep, just been out on Saturday morning errands, the car thermometer says 13c and it's raining...now I am a self-confessed heat hater, but it doesn't mean that I want this, either! Remarkable weather for late July, really.

Yes, there were some on here who said you couldn't get a daytime temperature on here as low as 12/13c at this time of year because of Global Warming. What rubbish!  😂

I reckon that with climate change, anything could happen! All bets are off. 40c one year, 13c the next...lol. Joking aside, when complex adaptive systems have a dose of chaos thrown in, predications (especially long term) can be a mugs game.

I don't have measurements, but pretty amazing amount of rain here in Solihull today, and cool with it. My wife and daughters even wanted the heating on for a bit! I resisted...but the contrast with last year is stark. Our cat is deeply unimpressed with the rain!!

Literally like October! Rain, wind and cool temperatures. Shocking July. Hope this cooler than average conditions is a sign for winter, usually don't work out like that but who knows.

I don’t mind the odd washout day, quite nice for sticking on a film and pigging out but tomorrow should be far less rainy; with a few brighter spells thrown in 🙂 no sign of oppressive heat too which I’m happy about, anything below 25c suits me nicely 😁

any ideas on rainfall amounts in the area today? Must be 25-30mm. Not flooding levels by any means but plenty of heavier bursts.

also, went to see Oppenheimer this eve. Well worth a watch; brilliant film

A washout day after a nice spell of weather is often welcome, but this month has had more than enough wet and grim weather. Also, any respite tomorrow is probably limited to central/southern areas as yet another band of rain moves southwards across the country, reaching all areas by Monday.

A quick note to complete the picture.

In the 24 hrs starting 7am yesterday morning , I recorded 20.3mms of rainfall.

Not as many have said exceptional, but it comes after 20 mms was recorded last weekend  and more fell 5.7mms during the week.

Thats around 50 mms for the 8days.

More rainfall is expected tonight as the cold front moves south again.

Cool  - my max yesterday was 16.9C at 21:00.

Bright and breezy here today (Solihull), noticeably warmer too. A bit blowy, but otherwise this is a passable summer's day IMBY...
