Temperatures already rising quickly in the west so they are getting rain - that's all just going to sweep over.

Met office app giving heavy snow around 22:00, quickly turning to rain  as the milder air arrives. Interesting, we shall see!

But for the period 00:00 to 00:30 this morning today would have been an ice day here at Salehurst, East Sussex Max at 00:17 was +0.3C fell to -1.3C at 07:50, rose to -0.1C at 13:53 and is now -1.7C. About as close as you can get to an ice day and in fact closer than anything last December.

Been tayters all day, but had a nice surprise when I got up, a slight covering outside, and on my car. Hopefully the 1st of many coverings of snow this winter. Hope everyone is ok

Pretty much an ice day, I’m guessing, here in Hailsham with the cloud and fog never  really lifting and rolling back in with a vengeance after 2pm. Impressive this far south.

No snow from this spell but never mind, only 2 days into winter!

Rain forecast tomorrow with very low temperatures. Can see some awful icy surfaces as a result. Think it'll be cute slippy out tomorrow.

This winter is certainly feeling the coldest I can remember in a long time.

there's even a mention of freezing rain. That's worse than snow in my books. hits the floor and freezes. reckon a few sunday shoppers will be knocking into other cars if it happens. and a few slips and stumbles too 😞

Not quite an ice day here just outside Woking. MetO were suggesting a few flakes possible this evening, but I don’t think so…

Fog is going now,can see nice clear stary sky.

Hmmm if the fog clears it could mean the surface cold is mixing out and warm air coming in, be interesting to see if under clear skies your temps change at all

Been feeling very seasonal today. Took the kids to the first Christmas outing seeing Santa, feeling very festive with frost lingering and feeling very cold. Not bad for the second day of winter! Freezing fog still lingering and the fire is on… onto the next chase 🤞🏻

We'll everything has frosted over quick, fog was keeping it moist not allowing freezing , so far anyway

Still foggy here in Challock. Temp now down to minus 4.5 with the snow still lying. Incidentally a short drive to the west and snow definitely a bit deeper so am calling Stalisfield the snow capital of Kent currently 😀

Coldest since February here now, -2.4c

Wonder how low it would have reached had the grim murk from the west not been approaching.

The temperature right now is still below zero, as shown on the graph for the last 24hr.

Along with the Fog which arrived last night & remains today, we have freezing fog and an Ice Day 🥶.

That's acceptable when you don't get a snowgrain or sleet lol

Fog is too late you needed it in October😢
