Looking very decent for you guys in the south east

Can't wait to see some of the footage that results from tonight's storms, especially around the very far southeast, should anything develop ⚡?️⛈️

I'd hate to state the obvious, but the reason there are so many storms in the South East is because we're closer to the warmth continental Europe can produce.
When it comes to snow, it sucks here, but I stayed in the south because the summers are better down here.  Best storms are in the Midlands, East Anglia and the South. Elsewhere you're not going to see as many.

East Anglia?

When? Where????

Believe me, the region isn't what it used to be.....

Quite a bit of lightning close by. Swore I saw the sky turn green about 5 mins ago and the last time I saw that colour was on American tornado footage.

Convective weather is going to have a fair decent amount to explain ! and the Met, BBC the other forecasts! I dont blame them really, that portugese low won that battle by chance !

And nobodys moaning that they were wrong ☺️

It's nice that they weren't a given as usual.. Anything can happen in these setups.

Well that was fun, Can I expect a round 2 later on?

I doubt it all associated with that cold front that's moving through... It's just raining here now. Quite nice to sleep to though!

think it has caught everyone out tbh, I think this was the most difficult to predict,

Unfortunately even the best windows 7 computer models, meteorologists etc cannot get it right all the time

I've not been monitoring the forecast / models today... Could I have a little context?

Wow this lot developed nicely, nothing here in SW Beds, usual storm shield in place. Fun watching some funky routes on plane finder app as they pick their way around the storms!

Some higher level thunder, and busy lightning, with waves of heavy rain, currently deciding whether to go out to try to take some pics but rain isn't helping.

Regular booming thunder and flashing, some great forks fireing into the sea right now.

Lots of CC lightning in the clouds too.

I know you can’t see any actual bolts in this picture but look how bright that lightning is!
