From my wooded position I thought I heard a rumble north Maidstone way but not 100 % sure but looks like bobs ya uncle and all fine and dandy to the SW

Well another 2mm this afternoon...that makes a grand total of 4mm today...yay....(sad i know...but i am geniunely excited when i see rain now ...and a rumble or two thrown in.) .....ps amazing pics EE!

I missed it in sandwich, shower started as I was leaving, don't know if thundery, then Dover got missed, which is fine by me, as have been busy today.

Two faint bits of lightning from the camera as well as a video. Will need to look through the pictures properly in the next few hours and I will update.

Chance of storms across Northern Ireland with perhaps a low top supercell risk today. Biggest risk might be storm training and repeated heavy rainfall.

Overnight an occluded front moves across the UK from the west. A second front follows on behind which may turn convective in the early hours tomorrow. The suggestion at the moment is that storms do not develop.

That second front seems to fizzle out and we get some convection in the form of swift moving pop corn. Forecast SkewTs show no storms tomorrow but it looks marginally possible (models don't need to be far wrong to get storms).

Next up is Wednesday night when there is the possibility of severe storms (overhead jet) developing in France moving up across the South East.

Long wave trough is properly over the UK with cool air aloft on Thursday. Low winds speed and localised wind convergence means some potent slow moving storms might develop. Central South and Manchester Northwards look most at risk.

Still early days and there is a good chance parts of the UK will not see any storms.

Something from Saturday afternoon`s storm over the West Midlands

Finally managed to convert from MiniDV to mp4

No flashes seen, but a rumble can be heard

and a pic of the cell which dropped a few sparks over the Black Country

Slim pickings, but hey Brumcam`s back up and running

Let’s watch Thursday and Friday for the next few days, looking pretty nice for us storm wise. Cape on the NMM on Thursday evening/night goes past 1100 in isolated spots ! UKV agrees for some bangers as well but take it with a pinch of salt as surface based convection is only forecasted accurately in the 12hr range.

No more electrical activity after it went overhead. Must have rained it self out. Some torrential rain for awhile though just stopping now. Had some very good insolation for about an hour before it came. Felt really good and you could tell was something developing but  developed very quick.

Don’t know why it had to stop producing lightning for 10 miles and then start again. I guess the Mersey did some damage
