Apparently in the central midlands it was going to strengthen around the early morning hours.

They are moving N/NE

Not sure about that.  There's no potential I'm convinced about

The best chance for the North/NW will be from 10am onwards into the afternoon where thundery-showers/multicells are expected to initiate across the spine of the Pennines. I'm haplessly staying up most of the night anyway in-case there's a brief weather window to view the Lunar Eclipse although that's not looking too likely at this time.

Convective weather suggested it and also my weather stations humidity skyrocketed and the lightning maps supported me but maybe your right

Back at devil's dyke in West Sussex again after traveling to Seaford, saw a few decent strike's but the distant lightning show continues. Looking at radar I'm going to be in-between storm's again so may have to call it soon. For those in Dorset seems like you hit the jackpot so well done to you folks down there tonight !!

Nothing good as of yet but a few flickers a while ago, cell I was watching seems to have lost its lightning activity now though

Don't try sleeping whatever you do! Now got flashes and a few rumbles to the east. Probably won't last long here as it's moving away but it's certainly been an active night

Just seen one flash of lightning between the clouds looking East towards the Chesterfield cell, I gave it 10 minutes but haven't seen anything else yet.

I Am just to the North East of Chesterfield not seen any lightning or heard any thunder but the rain is torrential here and has been for the last 15 minutes.

Something firing up down towards the Welsh Marches too

Nice little active storm just passed through here, frequent lightning and booming thunder, great to see.

I stayed up for nothing tonight for goodness sake!  Now I’ll have to wait till   Wednesday night which Looks prolific on the models.

Need to be careful about getting carried away for Wednesday night as this looks primarily a SE England event. Regardless, as I see it today the majority of the models have a large MCS ploughing NE across SE England. Decent instability, Strong Shear, Steep Lapse Rates all a recipe for a cracking event, but as always these have a tendency to shift eastwards. But one to keep an eye on as we're only 48-72 hours out.

Just looking on the met office weather app and apparently there's some for Telford this afternoon, I know that'll all change by lunchtime can only get my hopes up, not seen decent storm action here since 2020

I think it’s fair to say that I wasn’t expecting a night like that! Even had my nearly 6 year old son join me at the window a few times!

Ironically the heaviest rain of the night came later than the storms.

Now a claggy, muggy, misty morning.
