I haven't tried the astro function, but I've heard it is quite decent

The only thing I've been disappointed with is how poor the video quality is in extreme low light conditions, ie, no street lights,  pointing out to sea trying to capture storms

Probably expecting too much to be honest. But I expected better from one of latest phones on the market

Yes the autofocus is often a pain at night, there's no manual focus on the 4a, I would of liked more manual control. But it's great for stills in the day...

I could see pileus on some towers about 6pm looking towards London. Pileus clouds on the top of cumulus usually means an updraught is quite robust.

Saw a few flashes in the E and NE about 9.30pm

Chance of heavy showers although there is some question about how high cloud tops will be.

This would limit the severity of any convection with thunder and lightning likely to be rare. Models suggest low level wind convergence being the focus of heavy showers especially in the East of the UK.

Eumetsat satellite images suggest to me the upper trough might be an hour or so late moving across the UK which might put central areas at more of a risk of heavy showers. With lowish temperatures then updrafts are likely to weak which would also limit convective  storm potential.

Looking forward to the next plume potential, it's a case of ECM vs GFS/GEM. The former soon replaces next week's northerly muck with something from the south or SW that could turn thundery eventually, but the latter is interested in keeping the northerly muck/blocking around long term.

I'm seriously hoping the ECM is correct, not just for storm potential either, also for warmer temps and more interesting weather. Fortunately, it's my most trusted model, so I want to side with it!

Unusual cloud formation yesterday around 7.45pm near a thundery shower. East north east edge of London. Hoping for more storms today!

Hopefully the thundery potential if it even comes off will cover more areas this time around as well, not just the South and East.

Seems to be decent shear today. Here, the Cumulus clouds are heading west-to-east, and patches of Cirrus are heading north-to-south!

Edit: on further observation, there's not that much difference in their direction of travel than it seemed off the bat!

Couple of flashes and rumbles last night.

At Crayford today and just had a nice little pulse shower. One flash and bang.

South East once again hogging all the storms....

About time. We've been deprived of a lot of the action for many years while everyone else gets it!

Ah, in that case my condolence's, I hope you get something decent soon. This year has started off quite well, then had a bit of a lull for a month and now seems to be going strong so plenty of time to go. Keep your chin up and hopefully some decent storms will come your way.
