What's mad it was just the one bright flash with a loud crack of thunder, must've been right by the house for it to be that loud

Yes, a bright flash and loud clap of thunder here just now - my membership of the No Storms Club literally went out with a bang!

Imagine seeing a bright flash like that at night, for it to be that bright during day time is rather impressive, odd that it was just the one

Yes, there were a couple of sferics showed up out to the west of Lincoln but just the one very close by to the north-west.  I won't be surprised if we hear a few more as it clears away to the east though.

Yes, sure enough, I heard another rumble just half a minute after I wrote that!

Storms starting to pick up more now, though bit too South sadly, not sure if we'll get any new ones developing from the North

3 claps and some lightning from the 1pm-2pm cells near Brighton.

Intense convective rainfall too.

Daytime lightning is not the easiest to get, especially when you run home in torrential rain after cutting a meeting short, then realise your lightning trigger isn't charged so plan C, just try catch some!!
Managed this little mix up.
Taken Gravesend, Kent!
Still bit of practice before I head to the US in two weeks!

Not easy at all, even at night, but you managed to get a great shot there.

Thanks appreciate it.
Night time is difficult as you say but far easier than daytime, I have very few good daytime strikes in over 35 years of taking lightning pics.

finished with the youtube link. This is the storm that happened about 40 mins ago it was very peaceful hearing the birds whilst thunder rumbled in the background quite often, but only saw lightning once which looked cloud-to-cloud.

I’ve obtained a few since 2020, but yeah they’re harder to get than night ones

Just had my second storm of the day at Crayford. Lots of loud thunder, most sparks are of the CC variety sadly, although I did manage to catch a nice horizontal fork when looking straight up through the skylight.

What a day to not wfh - 3 rounds of thunder in London today so far and best cumulonimbus' I've seen in a long while. Cracking day, literally.

Storming in Dorking. It needs to end in 45 minutes so I can walk home without the threat of being struck by lightning ⚡️
